Koelschtrinker (7060) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - MAY 25, 2011
Trinkbar. 8/7/8/6/4/7

Bottled. A pale golden beer with a lazing white head. The aroma has notes of straw, minerals, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, straw, and minerals, leading to a lightly bitter finish. The carbonation is soft. Thanks yespr for sharing.

Bottled 33cl. Indeed, so little ratings and most of them are from Australia to my surprise! Appearance: Pale yellow with a quick diminishing white head. Not much lacework. Aroma: Glue, chestnuts, mushrooms and vegetables showing up. All characteristics I don’t appreciate in a Pilsener. Poor malt and hop profile. Flavor and palate: Oily. Hints of chestnuts and marzipan. Some bitterness. Hints of compost in the finish. Overall impression: Mediocre.

Sweet malt hop aroma. Murky yellow colour with no head or lacing. Malt hop flavour with stale aftertaste. Flat palate.

Bottle (picked up cheap at Purvis because it’s past its used by date) -- Pale amber with fast receding medium sudsy white head. A little lacing. Fairly nondescript aroma of hops and taste to match. Watery mouthfeel. Run-of-the-mill Swiss supermarket beer. Hmmm... Why is this only the third rating and two of us are from Oz?!

Light gold with a small head. Strong hop aroma. Immediate strong but rather unpleasant bitterness. A complete rip-off @ AU$5.50 per bottle. Why is this only the second rating?
