Bottle conditioned. Very dark brown with a small beige head. Aromas are lightly roasted malts with earthy peat notes. Also has weetabix with light smokiness and spices. There are also hints of blackberry. Flavours are sweet malts with berry fruitiness along with some acidity. Dark chocolate bitterness towards the finish. Decent.

500 mL bottle from Beers of Europe poured into a pint glass. Dark brown with lots of head a slight strawberry aroma. Tastes a krieky which sets it apart from other English beers. However it doesn’t quite get it right. An interesting experiment.

Beers of Advent Day 10. Pours black tea brown- murky and walnut with the bits in, cream fizz of head. Attractive yeasty aroma; apple strudel, clove, blackberry jam. Flavour yeast, hedgerow hop, spice; jammy apple and blackberry; earth, leaves, hint of sour. Soda-like carbonation muddying into dung and heartburn acidity. Has a certain appeal.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours a cloudy and opaque dark amber with a small off white head. Tart and Bretty nose with quite some barnyard. Light body, very tart fruitiness with lots of Brett. Dry finish. Quite lovely, but this was ever a Mild it’s seriously infected. In a great way however. 170910

Intriguing winter style beer with a fair bit of spice and earth taste and in the aroma too. It has a dark fruit touch too which is perhaps from just one of the spices, or from a sharp fruit such as blackberry or maybe plum. It’s colour is dark brown red with no real head to speak of. It’s quite light and easy going, fairly smooth in the mouth. Not a bad beer really but nothing amazing.
