The first beer brewed by the Falstaff Brewery, Phœnix is a dark copper colour beer with lots of body and a sweeter taste. At an ABV of 4.7% it’s been a hit with men and women alike. So named after an article in the Derby Drinker headlined "The Falstaff Brewery to rise from the ashes” Phœnix puts Falstaff beers firmly on the map

Gravicask at the Bricklayers Arms Derby Beer Fest. It pours copper/amber, with a thin foamy white head. The nose is wood, dust, leather, cardboard, brown bread and toasted malt. The taste is wood, leather, spice, earth, cardboard, toasted brown bread and resin, with a dry, warming finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Decent.

A Mes rate: gravicask at Ealing beer festival.
Beautiful copper / amber colour with a thin but lasting off white head. Big resinous hops and marzipan. An odd blend but it works for sure. Assertive and fruity. Very dry and dusty but creamy at the same time. Can’t not like this one even though I know it shouldn’t work.

Cask gravity at Ealing BF 2009. Copper, slight haze. It’s not a bad hoppy beer. Decent bitter with good hops. Dryish. Almost gingerish on the hops. It’s ok, bit earthy.
