COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular.
The third beer is a warm copper colour with all the sneakiness it’s name suggests. Without the syrupy quality of some stronger beers it’s easy to forget you’re drinking a 5.2%. It’s another easy drinker with all the subtleties you’re beginning to expect from the Falstaff Brewery. This beer takes its name from the Falstaff’s cellar-man, David, who’s fondly known as the Smiling Assassin. This is in recognition of all the support and hard work he’s willingly offered to Steph and Jim in order to get the brewery up and running. Cheers mate!

Hand pulled at the Wellington, Birmingham. Pleasant golden ale - very smooth and pretty sweet, neither aggressively hoppy, or with a visible malt base. Some fruit (peach and passion) and floral notes and a nice syruppy finish. Rather like a sweeter, brighter version of Jones’ Wet Tackle.

Gravicask at the Bricklayers Arms Derby Beer Fest. It pours clear amber, with a thin off-white head. The nose is subtle golden syrup, hay, straw and yeast. The taste is wood, hay, straw, oily, peach, nectarine, golden syrup, wheat and alcohol warmth. Medium to full body, soft carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Interesting.

Gravity cask at The Bricklayers Arms Derby BF, London. Pours clear amber with a slight film. Bit of spice, light yeast, wheat in the aroma. Medium sweet flavor, some dough, light spiciness. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Slight sugar finish, light wheat, spices. Not bad. Strikes me as some kind of wheat ale.

Cask. The High Cross JDW, Leicester. Medium white head. Amber/copper body. Spicy aromatic, hoppy, peppery, apricot, tangerine, fruits, alcohol coming through near the end. Bitter with sweet notes. Sweet finish, silky mouthfeel. A really good pint that doesn’t taste its strength.

Cask conditioned handpump Last Plantaganet Leicester A slightly hazy light amber coloured beer with a whitish head and lacing. The aroma is on the thin side with light hops. Quite fruity snd sweet in the mouth but also good hops. Good depth and maybe even warming. A good tasty beer.

Cask at the Falstaff, Derby. A rather non-descript brew. Gold with a ring of white head; fruity with a dry finish. Acceptable, but nothing more.

Cask at the George Hotel, Belper, Derbyshire 17-01-08 Marzipan and dessert apples dominated the aroma and came through to a lesser extent in the mouth , although the marzipan was still there riding roughshod over all. I didn’t totally dislike this beer, but I really found it quite strange and not my thing at all.

Cask conditioned at The Falstaff, Derby. Amber coloured beer with little head. Highly perfumed beer which is quite sweet in the body. A perfumey peach note throughout and a washing liqued flavour. Certainly not to my taste.
