The íPommeauí is a mix between apple moŻt and Calvados. E.Dupont POME 1998 is a very special blend of E. Dupontís unfermented apple juice and his one year old Calvados . This blend was filled into 5 year old empty calvados casks in 1998 the tannins of which were still at work. It has been aging in these wooden barrels ever since. As the name "Pommeau" is legally reserved for such blends not exceeding 30 months of aging in those wooden casks the term "POME" was created to celebrate this very special 10 year old blend of apple juice and calvados.

16.06.2014, 0,75l bottle @ BBGTC tasting:
Flat. Aroma is slightly sweet fruity, still a little oaky and boozy, slightly fresh concentrated sour apples, alcohol, oak, grass. Taste is slightly dry oaky, concentrated fresh sweet apples, oak, alcohol, grass, minerals. Medium bitterness, dry oaky mouthfeel. Fair enough, but too boozy. A nice icecider is way better, and I donít really see what a (partially) spirit based "thing" has to do on Ratebeer at all...

Bottle 750ml @ ClubGonzo
Pours clear copper with no head. Aroma has notes of red apples, alcohol, wood, earthy and hint of vanilla. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light sour with a very warm, sweet apples and hint of woody finish. Body is full, texture is oily, with no carbonation.

Bottle, 75cl. A clear one, oily and flat, dark golden in color. Itís quite boozy on the nose, with calvados, apples, apple cores and a faint rubbery touch. Itís a tad too warming on the palate, oily and full-bodied, with flavors of white sugar, lots of apples, some apple cores and a little spiced touch. Sweet, apple finish with a little spiced touch. Canít say I understand why this oneís on RB, but itís sure worth drinking. 140616

Bottle. Iím honestly curious towards what this is doing on Ratebeer, being basically an aperitif made of calvados and apple juice, but Iím sure someone has an explanation for that. :-) Pours a still, clear cognac-colored deep bronze-coppery body, looking quite delicious. Aroma is yellow apples, oxidized apple cores, oak, cognac, boozy caramel-ish tones and hints of cinnamon and mild blue cheese. Complex and inviting. Taste is oaky tannins, cognac, oxidized apples, yellow apple peel, cinnamon, alcohol, vanilla and hints of honey and cellar must. Full body, no carbonation. Quite lovely stuff really, despite the unmistakable boozy notes from the calvados which sets it apart from high ABV beverages of a similar nature (meads, sake, ice cider). I like it a lot.

Sampled from bottle @ my parents place. They brought a bottle from France when they werethere on hholiday last summer. Clear amber color, no head. Aroma has apple, sweetness, sugar. Taste apple, sugar, alcohol, a bit dry, maybe a hint of vanilla and cinnamon. Warming alcohol finish, a bit dry.

Deep amber pour with no head. Nose is rich wood, light vanilla, alcohol, faintly tart, and sticky. Flat, heavy wood, sticky alcohol, sweet apple, caramel, toffee, and dough. Quite tasty, will be a sipper for the day.

Pours a rich copper color with great clarity. The nose is a mixture of sweet apples, burnt sugar, warm booze and a touch of spice. The palate is warm and boozy with a nice apple pie sweetness with added complexity of butterscotch, tannic apple peel and a long apple finish. Warms you from the belly up !
