August 19, 2012 - draught at King William IV Witterfest. Black - small but very long-lasting tan/light brown creamy fizzy head. Oooh - love the aroma oily, deep coffee/chocolate roast, a bit herbal - not very sweet, much more bitter than many - classic aroma, better than most. Taste follows, but bigger bitterness, a little unbalanced - not harsh, just ... hop OTT (I like that though) - sticky, molasses-like almost, really pounds the palate. Surprisinly just average body/thickness, average body, long, nearly burnt dry herbal deep roast finish - solid stuff - only 7.5%? - okay, if you say so.

On tap at the King William IV - Witterfest. Opaque black beer, good pale tan head. Smooth light palate, airy and a little soft. Mild roast and a little coffee. Nice rich malt cream, Trace of hop in the soft finish. Won over by the smoothness and richness of this one. Malty aftertaste.

Fad: Kulsort øl. Let olieret. Lækker frisk duft af citrus humle. Virkelig godt integreret i de brændte malte. Smagen er også lækker og frisk. Virkelig et godt eksempel på en frisk humlet amerikansk stout.

Keg at Witterfest (Fano meet the brewer), King William IV - 20/08/12. Dark black with a thin tan head. Hoppy nose, sweet malts, coffee and caramel. Tastes as nose allied to grassy tones, chocolate and pine. Medium bodied with a bitter dry finish, I really got this one!

Tap at Proletariat. This is, in many ways, the most intense beverage I’ve ever tasted. The powerful hops combined with the bitter roast combine for an overwhelming, unpalatable bitterness. Lovely aroma, bounding with chocolate and tar never shows itself in the mouth. I wish I could drink this as it has so much potential.

Keg @ Witterfest ’12, King William IV. The pour’s deep brown with a thick tan head. An attractive beer. The aroma’s bursting with roast coffee bean flavos. Quite grassy and brash. Some notesof tangy white wine barrel sweet sugars. The taste is more roasted coffee beans, woody pine, chocolate syrup and floral hops. Bitter. This is a big-boned beer. Rich. Very tasty.
