Both aroma and taste of very roasty, almost burnt, notes of malt along with fruity coffee and chocolate. Quite viscous mouthfeel and added notes of licorice and some hoppy bitterness to the aftertaste. Excellent beer!

Very thick-set rust-beige head, slightly irregular over black beer, pouring viscously. Very intense, nearly tangible aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, but also of dark berries (blueberries, billberries, even blackcurrant); and also other grains. Very outspoken, but mild-bitter coffee, moccha and dark grains flavour; ending in chocolate or chocolate/cacao Ersatz. Maltbomb with syrup, sugar, and praliné cream, hopped. Very rich and nourishing, viscous to solid, slight alcoholheat. Impressive, really. One of those Danish superbrews, but one that achieves a rare balance.

Bottle at Chriso’s Fullers-Gales Tasting. It pours very dark brown-black, with a thin dark tan head. The nose is tar, liquorice, coconut, roasted malt and charcoal. The taste is coconut, roasted malt, coffee, salted caramel, liquorice, toffee and dark chocolate, with a warming finish. Full body (coats your mouth) and fine carbonation, with a thick, oily mouth-feel. Well balanced and surprisngly smooth. Good stuff indeed.
