Dark amber and hazy. Has an off-white head, medium duration. Aroma of acid, barnyard, acidic wine. Flavor starts faint sweet, then lots of acid, moderate bitter finish. Dry, acidic texture and soft carbonation. Astringent.

August 19, 2012 - draught at King William IV Witterfest. Beautiful deep refractive deep burnt ruby/copper with smallish but lasting creamy tan head. Smells lovely - overripe plum and grape, with oak-y dry sourness - brandy? - so yes, alcohol, but not overwhelming - nice! Taste - a real Flemish sour character; plenty of sweet fruity thick malt, but also a lot of sourness, borderline red wine vinegar - and definitely some warming alcohol - very appealing, maybe even a bit salty. Slick, average body, obviously a bit sour, decent if low-level carbonation, and the finish is fairly long, dry, fruity and oak-y and, yes, sour coating finish.

Bottle at Chriso’s 2012 Pre-GBBF Shindig, London. Pours lightly hazy ruby with a medium, creamy foam head. Good bit of funk in the nose for sure, some light poo and berries as well. Medium sweet flavor, fairly tangy with dry wood, tart berries. Medium bodied with fine, tickling carbonation. Semi-dry finish, vinous, with some leaves and further berries. Interesting stuff.

Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2012. Poured a deep, cloudy amber with a small, bubbly, loose & fading white head. Sour & woody aromas, somewhat (white) winey with tart lemon, juicier mid fruits & a musty yeast note. Tart green apple, lemon, yeast, some vinegar & grape to taste. A delicate fruit skin bitterness to finish. A good, mouth-puckerng sour ale. Light to medium body, spritzy mouthfeel with a lingering bitter, acidic finish.

Cloudy brown coloured beer with a medium light brown head. Woody and yeasty aroma. Flavor is sour and bitter with some fruity notes. Fruity notes almost as a lambic beer.

Bottle @ Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig. Pours deep brown with a small off-white head. The nose is peaches, some cherry and nasty gasoline. The taste is cherry, soured fruits and balsamic vinegar. Somewhat reminiscent of a flanders red on this sampling. Medium body, soft. Pretty good.
