Originally brewed in 2009, brought back by popular demand for the first time since 2012. Brewed with the assistance of Fanø’s Oyster King, Jesper Voss. A traditional British Stout, with strong roasted malt character and hints of coffee and caramel. Brewed with both oyster liquor and whole oysters from the Wadden Sea gives this full bodied beer the unique aroma of the ocean with a slightly savory mineral finish.

Pours pitch black color with a medium sized head. Aroma of dry milky chocolate, caramel, some caramel, light hops and toasted malts. Nice coffee notes also. Flavor of dry chocolate, caramel, roasted malts, coffee and some wooden notes. Dry chocolaty palate with a dry malty finish. Very good for such a low abv beer.

Pours a black colour with a small white head. Aroma of roasted malts, tobacco and ash. Flavour of roasted malts, raisins, bitter chocolate, almonds, ash and grassy bitterness. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Nice one, although I cannot find the oysters here.

Draft at Mikkeller as Fano Oyster Stout. Pours a murky, grainy dark brown with a dense and creamy tan head. Big chocolatey nose. Lots of toasty malt under that, with some cocoa nibs showing. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Milk chocolate and cocoa on the mid palate. Long balanced finish with just enough sweetness. Very good oyster stout that seemed to be getting lots of good word of mouth.

(Bottle, 0.5 l - BBE 03/2013, at Pikkulintu, 20130121) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had sweetness, cocoa, chocolate, roasted malts and white coffee. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were roasted malts, sweetness, burnt malts, ash and bitterness. Aftertaste was milky, sweet and bitter. Nice tasty and mild stout. The oysters went completely unnoticed.

Vertical with Marstons Oyster Stout
Aroma is quite light with roastiness, coffee and dark chocolate. Flavour is rather roasted and somewhat sour with coffee and dark chocolate. Dry and sour finish. The sourness disturbs me – but then again I guess it is the feature of this stout style. Rather rich for this ABV.
