Originally brewed in 2009, brought back by popular demand for the first time since 2012. Brewed with the assistance of Fanø’s Oyster King, Jesper Voss. A traditional British Stout, with strong roasted malt character and hints of coffee and caramel. Brewed with both oyster liquor and whole oysters from the Wadden Sea gives this full bodied beer the unique aroma of the ocean with a slightly savory mineral finish.

Bottle, courtesy of yespr. Pours nearly black with airy chocolatelike head. Inviting aroma of roasty malt. Taste of smoked malt and roasted nuts. Pleasant, not excessively dry aftertaste. Very decent stuff. Bonus point for relatively low amount of alcohol.

On tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012. It’s a very dark brown beer, topped by a minimal-sized tan head. A bit boring aroma, but far from bad, with coffee and roasted malts doing most of the work. Cold coffee, burnt malts, some prunes and licorice in the flavor. It’s thin and dry on the palate, a bit too thin I think, but at 3.7% ABV it’s not bad. Dry and roasted finish. Overall, a tasteful and quenching beers, but I think it could use a more generous shot of hops. 120511

Rich and smooth - very full in the mouth. A good roast, and pretty refreshing. High quality brew, no flaws.

Bottle, 3.7%. Roasted aroma, subtle yeast note. Black colour. Small unstable dark brown head. The flavour is also roasted, ashy, mild, but flavourful. Not a powerful beer, but good considering the ABV. Does not taste much of oysters, but there is a little salt in there, no more than many non-oyster stouts, though. Hint of grassy hop in the aftertaste. Not a sipping beer, but works nicely as a quaffing beer.

Tap at Witterfest (Fano meet the brewer), King William IV - 20/08/12. Rich dark black with a thin coffee head that soon dissipates. Sweet malts, bitter chocolate, coffee and a little roasting on the nose. Tastes largely as the nose, a little toffee and some mineral tones creep in. Lightish in body, smooth drinking with soft carbonation.
