(Draught – in Copenhagen, Denmark, 2012). Wonderful fragrance and soft and amazingly balanced palate with rich aromas of roasted malt, raisins, vanilla, chocolate and barrel. Incredibly tasty beer and dangerously easy to drink with respect to the ABV 10.3%.

UPDATED: SEP 17, 2013 Bottle. A black one, looking lovely with its finger-thick tan head. The aroma has blackberries, roasted malts, booze, leather, dark sugar and bacon, equally nice. The flavor pretty much the same, with a nice sweetness level. Warming and full-bodied on the palate, finishing with a lasting roasted flavor. A really pleasant one. Rating: 8-5-8-4-16-4.1. 121116

Bottle, from trade with Papsoe. A black one, topped by a small, dense, dark tan head. The aroma has a nice smoked ham scent, followed by chocolate, roasted malts and some coffee. Some herbal notes? It’s super-full-bodied, very soft and velvety, with some warmth. Roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and beef stock in the flavor. Lasting finish with lots of flavors. A really wonderful beer, but I’d like it to move a bit over from the malty side. 130510

Pour is jet black with very little dark mahogany head. Nose has light pest and barrel up front with a heavy sugary and sweet malt presence. Taste is overly sweet malt, under attenuated and messy for the most part. It has a dry finish with a fair bit of peat, ash, light barrel, and some bitterness. The sweetness and ash linger together. It lacks focus and integration. It’s big, thick, well carbonated but messy.
