Aroma is of smoke, I get campfire smoke, some meaty smoke like smoked ham and sausage, burnt and ashy notes, coffee, roasted malt, dark fruits and dark chocolate. Flavor follows the nose with lots of campfire smoke, burnt wood, some slight meaty smoke again smoked ham comes to mind, more sweetness in the flavor of chocolate, and dark fruits, coffee and again the burnt notes. The body is full with a nice creamy mouth feel. Overall a pretty nice Smoked Imperial Stout.

Bottle, from trade with Papsoe. A black one, topped by a small, dense, dark tan head. The aroma has a nice smoked ham scent, followed by chocolate, roasted malts and some coffee. Some herbal notes? It’s super-full-bodied, very soft and velvety, with some warmth. Roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and beef stock in the flavor. Lasting finish with lots of flavors. A really wonderful beer, but I’d like it to move a bit over from the malty side. 130510

Pour is jet black with very little dark mahogany head. Nose has light pest and barrel up front with a heavy sugary and sweet malt presence. Taste is overly sweet malt, under attenuated and messy for the most part. It has a dry finish with a fair bit of peat, ash, light barrel, and some bitterness. The sweetness and ash linger together. It lacks focus and integration. It’s big, thick, well carbonated but messy.

330ml bottle brought back home from Ølbutikken in Copenhagen. Thick oily pour. Dissipating brownish head to a devil-black body. Sparse lacing. Peat malty aroma joined by ash and dark anise. The peaty flavour is well integrated with earthy malts, anise and dark fruits. Vinous palate. Lingering malt bitter finish supported by alcohol warmth. Full bodied. Very nice, slow sipper. (Tromsø, 26.03.2013).

Pours thick oil dark black oil in color with a mocha head that has a cinnamon crimson hue. Aroma brings huge smokey peat notes so smooth and delicious in the nose. The flavor and body are equally as wonderful with huge roasted malts, coffee, and cacao to start off and then the smooth and sweet smokey notes come in, followed by a drop to dryness that I never expected.
