Bottle... Cloudy amber pour with pale rose highlights and a small, wispy, white head. Good retention. The aroma is an interesting blend of smokiness, fresh bandage and lemon peel. Medium-bodied with airy carbonation. The flavor is mildly tart and a hint smoky. Finishes tangy, tongue-numbing and fairly dry. Bottle courtesy of ctipping!

The beer appears golden with a thick white head. Aromas of spice, malt, oddities, well water, funk, earth. The beer definitely seems more Fantôme than Hill Farmstead. Weird, earthy, herbal. Flavors do not cooperate well. A jumbled mess of odd spices. Cracked black pepper with some fruity notes. I am not a fan of this one.

A steady pour into my large Tripel Karmeliet tulip produces a two-finger thick, pale tan colored head. The beer is a slightly murky, light amber color that shows a lightly hazed, light straw color. The aroma smells earthy, lightly tart, and lightly funky, definitely Fantome like. Slightly musty, tart with a bit of apple cider vinegar character (strangely without the acetic focus though), with a soft, dried straw like, and pale cracker like grain aroma to it in the finish.

The beer is light bodied, but not thin, with a spritzy carbonation and a dry, slightly musty finish. The beer has a solid bitterness to it, with an herbal, woody character that seems evocative, if not from hops. Up front the beer has a touch of grassiness, and there is also a black pepper like spiciness that melds well with an earthy, grainy, pale malt character that tastes of dried hay, and raw grain crackers. There is a light tartness here that accentuates a citrus zest character (leans towards lemon), as well as suggesting of star fruit. This has suggestions of floral honey notes to it, but without any sweetness.

This is a really nice beer; I like that it is only at 6.5% rather than at the typical, Fantôme 8%. There is still lots of character here, and the beer finishes lighter and drier, which is a bonus. The bitter, herbal character is the dominant note in the flavor, but it is nicely accented by the soft tartness, suggestion of citrus, and light, earthy spiciness.

olio (6523) - Tampere, FINLAND - AUG 6, 2014
75 cl bottle @ BierCAB, Barcelona. Tick #6000
Pours cloudy yellow color with a small head. Lemon and spices on the nose, faint grassy hops, some yeast and wooden notes. Citric fruits on the flavor, subtle spice notes, some gooseberries and faint yeast notes. Nice and refreshing without being too spicy. Could be a tad more crispier and more citric though. Very nice anyway.

Vignale (2202) - Malmö, SWEDEN - JUN 29, 2014
Flaska från Etre Gourmet. Gyllenfärgad, mycket disig, ganska lågt skum. Frisk brettad lätt funkig doft. Citrus, vetesyrlighet, kamomill, omogna persikor/aprikoser, brett, kåda, peppar, halm. Frisk, syrlig, mycket men väl avvägd brett. Riktigt riktigt gott.

I held this 750 ml bottle because I was informed that it was flat and maybe it would carb up. Well, it didn’t carb up, totally flat. Aroma is sour lemons, thick bad caramel malt and butt hole.

The flavor is mostly the same with dirty cow manure up front, followed by tart lemons and dirty basement and hints of smoke. Was Brett used in this beer? No... This is just totally screwed, Gosh this is just not good.

lusikka (6551) - Tampere, FINLAND - JUN 10, 2014
750 ml bottle. Rated on 10.6.2014. Pours a hazy golden colour with a white frothy head. Aroma of bread, pear juice, funk and lemon peel. Rich complex flavour with sweetness, quite heavy yeastiness, green tea, floral hops, tart citrusy notes and pepper. Medium bodied and lively carbonation. Refreshing. Could use a little less yeastiness.

Bottle. Pours hazy yellow with a small, creamy white film head. Aroma has citrus, camomile, malts, wheat. Low carbonation, fine dry and quite dry mouthfeel. Flavour has good malts, chamomile, wheat, pepper. Quite elegant with quite a bit of dryness from herbs.

Pours thicker unclear amber with barely a head, almost no carbonation. The aroma brings some apple cider vinegar. The flavor brings some light sweet tart malts and a bit of light leather, but ending somewhat dry. Not as potent as I’ve heard, going to sit on mine for a bit.
