Tasted on 5/11/12 from a capped and corked 750mL bottle purchased at Discount Liquor in Milwaukee some time in 2010. Pours deep auburn with a thick beige head that slowly recedes to thick lace, leaving messy lace along the inside of the glass. The nose is nicely tart with some caramel malt, a spice note that could be black pepper, and a nice lemon peel note. The flavor is more subdued with the very light caramel malt, a tart lemon peel note, and a lightly fruity and black pepper flavor. The body is light with average carbonation and a long lightly bitter lemon peel and black pepper peach finish.

Thanks to Jrob21 for my first Fantome. Pours a dark hazy amber ruby with a couple fingers off white head. Smell is complex, melon and vinous, Belgian yeast. Taste is slightly tart, spicy, grape, citrus. Very drinkable. Lighter bodied. Amazing.

750ml bottle. Dark amber with no head. Mild malt, some belgian yeast, some pepper, grass. Moderate to high carbonation, medium body, somewhat tart, bit of funk, mild on the finish, somewhat bready, bit of a macro finish as well. Ok.

Bottle. Pours hazy copper with average white head; average retention and spare lacing. Aroma is fruit, spice, sweet malt, and grassy notes. Flavor is average malt and esters with faint hops; dry finish. Light body, carbonation, and warmth.

(Bottle) Pours reddish orange with a creamy sand coloured head. The aroma is mega complex and a bit nasty with clear tones of raspberries, black pepper, white pepper, chilly, clove and maybe some nutmeg. Undertones of brett/horse blanket/barnyard, citrus and subtle fruits. The flavour start with a second of dry malt, barnyard, horse blanket and citrus, Continues with a strong and numbing pepper/chilly profile. The mouthfeel is light tart with a medium carbonation. Long peppery finish. Medium bodied.

Bottle; Pour is murky golden amber with a fine bubbled khaki head - mild lacing, nice retention in this glass - the nose is definitely pepper, fruity, belgian funk, bread, and grass really. The flavor profile is fruity, peppery, mild belgian notes... more grassy hops .. and more bready malts... the last poster put it correct ; this beer is one of the best shitty beers ever - its annoyingly muted and thin on the finish - thanks to the 4.5% - I don’t see the point.

750ml bottle .. . white black head .. . light heavy lacing .. . yeasty and earthy, with an odd muddled mouthfeel .. . what a shitty beer that is really awesome! .. . . Well it’s a very special drink. It’s just for us astronauts.

Effervescent amber, massive pillowy blanket of a cream head. Rustic nose forefronts black pepper which gives way to leaves, grainy bread, alcohol, all a bit contrasting. Flavor is quite fruity up front, lots of honey and pear combine with the pepper, mid quite doughy before a dry, lightly toasty, buttery finish. Thick, creamy body. A bit contrasted throughout, elements and structure, though still enjoyable. A belgian ale, yes, if Fantome had made it.

A very good beer, like all things Fantome. Dark copper color. Fantome yeast is prominent in the aroma, as well as flowers. Body has light malt and more yeast with an earthy quality. Very good. I am surprised to see it is so low in alcohol. I found this at Casanova in Hudson, summer 2011.

750 ml bottle thanks to Craig. Notes from a tasting held in April 2011.
Aroma: slight skunky aroma, grass, lemon, citrus, spice
Taste: sweet pilsner malt, spice, grassy, acidity, tart
Overall: I enjoy most of Fantomes beers, however this one is not one I would recommend.
