Bottle @ ORL throwdown. Pours a dark amber with a white head. Mint and brett funk, tartness and huge black pepper on the nose. Flavorwise, apples, tart and sour with more pepper and finishes with some spicey brett. Nice dry Fantome finish, quite good, a little heavy on the pepper.

750 ml bottle from Wine and Cheese Place, a few years old. Maybe late 2010. Pours a hazy orange color, though the entire inside of the glass is coated in off-white bubbles that cap it with a finger of head. Notes of peppery spice, leaves, earthy funk, plum, and apple. Light-bodied, with a funky, tart, fizzy mouthfeel and high carbonation. Can’t believe the carbonation in this for being a few years old. Too much, but a good beer.

Shared 75cl bottle at tasting with RB crew. 2008 vintage, BB 10/2013. Pours dark amber with a foamy tan head. Aroma is sour funkiness, floral, spice and yeast. Taste is sour and woody with a prominant black pepper quality which is really interesting.

Hazy peachy colour, with a lasting white head.Leaves lace lines. Belgian yeast and pepper aroma. Middling mouthfeel.A lightly acidic taste, like Apple cider. pepper is significant. Not complex flavour, but nicely drinkable for sour/wild fans.

750mL bottle and fairly old. Poured hazy medium orange with a short white head.. nice color to it. The aroma picked up black pepper, meaty lemon, and lesser floral notes over a pale base.. some oxidation evident. The flavor found more black pepper throughout, with odd, soapy notes and oxidation dominating the middle.. tangy, oaky barrel and more black pepper on the finish. Light-medium bodied and slick on the palate.. tangy and interesting at times.. I wasn’t a huge fan, but it was certainly interesting.

Bottle shared by Darrell. Thanks man. Sampled alongside twenty other Fantôme beers. The beer appears hazy and light brown hued with a small, off white head. The aroma brings some cinnamon, funk, earthy notes, apples, ripe apples or apple skins. It smells like a funky, earthy, apple cider. Interesting. The flavor is decent, but not something of which I would want a lot. Perhaps this just isn’t my thing. Again, earthy, funky apple cider. The body is pretty thin, with appropriate carbonation. A small snifter sized pour was plenty for me. Overall, interesting, and definitely worth trying. I would be curious to have this again, as I suspect a lot of bottle and/or batch variation with this beer, and Fantôme in general. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 11-07-2011

Bottle shared by MrPickles...thanks Andy! - Pours clear amber with a thin white head. Nose is light spicing, peppery with a clean bready malt base. Pretty dry. Taste is the same, with some fruitiness mixed in. Thin and well-carbonated.

Bottle at Les Caves... Vintage around 2010 based on the coding on the side of the label. Poured a rich, amber/red with a mild head. That nice Fantome funk and yeast. But it all seemed really mellowed and balanced. Earthy, peppercorns, some grains and spice. Mild oxidation. Good mouthfeel still.

750mL bottle, courtesy of julian, pours a cloudy dark orangey amber with a huge foamy white head. Aroma of black pepper, lots of yeast and some light funk. Flavour of brett, black pepper, light funk, and lots of yeast. Lots of carbonation, and dominated by the black pepper and funk. Lightly brett yeasty and mildly peppery on the finish. Very enjoyable session Fantome.

Pours clear copper with a small white head. Smells funky and peppery. Taste is funk and vinegar. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture and fizzy mouth-carbonation, Fantôme BBB Dark White finishes with vinegar tartness.

Amber pour, light head. Aroma has toffee, pepper, yeast, light funk and some earthy, dusty notes. Flavor is dry, spicy, light pepper, funk, malt. Nice! THanks Danny. Great going away tasting from a classy crew of drinkers in Tally.
