750 ml. into footed glass. Kind of underwhelming. Nothing about this beer stood out to me. After reading the description, I now know that the occassional spiciness underneath the dark, non-sweet chocolate malt is black pepper, but that flavor never came to mind while drinking. Smooth and quaffable, surely, but without any of the stand-out uniqueness I’ve come to expect from Fantome.

Bottle from Vaaland, Bryne. Pours hazy glowing deep golden with a mid sized creamy white head. Aroma is fruity with fresh yeast, malts in the back. Taste is weak fruity acidic, refreshing and lively mouthfeel, weak pepper and spices, very good considering the low abv, moreish +

A dark thick faded fogged orange look with a white foamy aggressive head. Big funky aroma. Earthy pepper spice in the back. Nice fruity flavor of light tropical fruits. Light and drinkable. Solid.

750 ml bottle. Unclear orange body with a nice off-white head. Aroma has malt, fruit, spices and the typical Fantome yeast. Flavor is smooth malt, some caramel, general fruity, spicy yeast, moderate bitter and pepper. Fine balanced body for the low ABV. Quite pleasant, best described as a rather typical Fantome Saison with pepper. A bonus for creating this nice beer at only 4,5%

Bottle @ Aarhus tasting. Hazy amber with a lasting off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, dark fruit and pepper. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish with warming alcohol. Feels a lot stronger than 4.5 % ABV. I would guess this was around 8 %.170215

Bottle: Thanks, Jeff. Cloudy bright orange & amber body with a soft, foamy gray tinted head that settles to a chunky collar in moments. Aroma has heavy notes of leather, smoke, tar, some toasted grains, spicy earth. Flavor is full of smoke, bitter earth, musty leather, light charcoal, faint strawberry fruits, lots of dusty pepper spiciness, almost a tone of toasted rye, burnt grains. Somewhat lofty mouth feel, finishes relatively dry.
