The aroma is sweet malty with notes of corriander. The color is an unclear dark orange-red and it has a fine off white head. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of corriander. The carbonation runs over the tongue before it ends on a dry hoppy note.

opaque burnt orange, big off white head, musty aroma of moldy fruit, very carbonated body, rich dry malt flavor, spices come out nicely as it warms, not enough sweetness to keep it interesting, stays musty to the end

Light amber colour. Cloudy. Aroma shows a little lactic acid, lemon, passion fruit and grapefruit. Very yeasty body. Slightly dry and bready. Where were those citrus notes I was promised? Not bad, but not Dany’s best.

(750ml bottle) Pours a cloudy glowing amber with a medium white head. Aroma of tea leaves, cinnamon, corriander, and mustiness. Flavor of tea and some citrus and spices. Light, refreshing tea-like beer.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 argo0 (9227) - Washington DC, USA - JUN 15, 2004
Opaque copper body topped by explosive beige head. Aroma is pepper, grape, orange peel, musty. Taste is unmistakably saison -- lively yeast, spicy, pepper, fruity (pear, grape). Dry finish. Medium body, highly carbonated. Quite a tasty treat!
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 bierkoning (8109) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - MAY 24, 2004
I don’t need a corkscrew for this beer, the cork comes out by itself! Light ornage brown color, hazy because of the tiniest particles of yeast. Hops, apple, coreander and caramel in the aroma. Hoppy, herbal flavor with caramel, coreander and hints of ginger. Herbal bitter aftertaste. With more restraint in the use of herbs, this would be a great beer.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 hopscotch (7538) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JUL 20, 2004
Cloudy, deep amber ale with a huge, frothy, vanilla head. Terrific retention. Excellent, ink-blot lacing. Fruity, spicy aroma. Well-bittered, spicy flavor with notes of lemon, grapefruit, buttermilk and mango or passion fruit... I tend to confuse the two. Medium-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Mid-length, dry, spicy finish.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 CaptainCougar (6835) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - JUL 14, 2004
Pours a hazy copper with a medium sized off-white head that leaves a fine lace behind. Aroma is musty, woody, and barnyardy with some deep Belgian malty presence. Starts with a dry light sweetness turning more spiced and bitter toward the finish. Not as complex as some of the other Fantomes, but well rounded, clean, and enjoyable, a nice saison.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 JorisPPattyn (6736) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - MAR 5, 2004
Beautiful red colour, only slightly hazy; reddish tinted head, collapsing. Opening the bottle gives an explosion of fruity, funky flavours, but very volatile, leaving a gingery-fruity smell. Taste is smokey, tobacco flavours, cigarette ash - perpendicular on the nose impression. Some slight acidity, and -burn. Impressive for a 6% ABV beer. Alcohol/acidburn. Another great one from Dany P. How does he do it?

Dark brown and murky with a white head. Good sweet and musty nose, with some barnyard and old wood aromas. Silky and a little plain flavors, not as spicy and robust as the nose. Mellow yeast flavors as well. Very decent.
