Commercial Description:
Once described as a Belgian Irish-style stout, Black Ghost has undergone lots of changes over the years. It now bears no resemblance whatsoever to a stout, and brewer Dany Prignon has begun adding spices to the beer. What they are is anybody's guess...the Fantôme confounds once again.

Bottle. [Courtesy of Ungstrup, quality tasting @ Papsoe] Spare frothy white head that mostly diminished. Muddy dark brown color. Spare lacework. Notes of flowers, perfume, herbs, citrus, barnyard and spice. Medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Moderated sweet with light acidic. Spicy light sour finish. 28-09-2007

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours a hazy, dark brown with an orange hue. Head is completely absent. Lightly tart, spicy nose. A little thin and almost completely flat. No real malty feel - just this weird acidity. Must’ve been a bad bottle. 280907

One of my favorite beers. A beer near the pinnacle of beer complexity. Numerous bold and subtle earthy flavors that defy description. Once a fan of this beer style you may have a hard time turning back - beware.

Bottle, 75 cl. Bought @ festival Hotton. Dark brown almost black color, smaal beige head. Aroma cherry ?, yeast, sour, and sweet to. Medium body. Taste is good sourness, fruity, a bit complex. Good. For me: this is not an stout style beer.

Bottle 1997 - Beautiful clear deep chestnut body with a huge creamy light brown head; Very fruity vinous fresh nose, tobacco caramel aromas, lots of warm ripe fruit with a slight acid touch; Very very intense greatly composed full body, perfect full, slightly bitting carbonation, bitter, salty, acidy; Long tobacco bitter dark chocolate finish, fruity acidy in very long late dense finish. Great beer...why do I only have this one bottle?

Bottle, vintage 2005. Dark brown beer w/a biege head. Aromas of caramel, chocolate, wood, tobacco, herbes and berries. Sourrish, sweetish flavour with tobacco, smoked wood, chocolate, some coffee and caramel. Finishes sourrish, slightly bitter and fruity. No oxidation whatsoever. Nice.
