Commercial Description:
Once described as a Belgian Irish-style stout, Black Ghost has undergone lots of changes over the years. It now bears no resemblance whatsoever to a stout, and brewer Dany Prignon has begun adding spices to the beer. What they are is anybody's guess...the Fantôme confounds once again.

750ml bottle. been a long time since any new fantome’s have come my way. deep brown under a creamy beige head. aroma of licorice, caramel, nutmeg, coriander maybe some dark christmassy spices. flavor hints at caramel malt, toast, apple, and plenty of odd "darker" spices. unique as usual but hard to decipher.

Bottle, pour an amber brown body with a tan head. Spicy yeast y pepper corn and dill. Dried fruit and a mild acidic yet slightly sweet with a chocolate malt character. Nice bottle to share.

750 ml bottle shared by Tmoney99. Pours a dark brown color with a medium off white head. The aroma does not have the usual guess what’s in there aroma of the majority of Fantome’s beers, but instead is dark fruit, caramel, lightly spiced, and almost port like at the end. The flavor on the other hand was completely unrelated to the nose. It was sharp with a collection of roots, herbs, and spices with a touch of roast. I guess earthy is as good a descriptor as any. There are vestiges that this was a stout, but it has morphed into something that refuses to be categorized.

Pours out a mahagony colour with a creamy tan head that retains very well. The nose is yeasty and dusty, with notes of apple and bready malts. The flavour is astringently bitter, almost medicinal. There are notes of citrus, spruce and some vegetal sugars. I think this might be light struck or skunked or something, because this is nearly a drainpour. Other than that, the body is airy, well carbonated and drying.

Pours a hazy reddish dark brown. Decent lacing. Toasted bread, earthy malt, chocolate, light fruit, citrus, ground pepper, and a slight amount of funk and grass. An interesting beer. It has some aspects of saison, belgian strong, and a little bit stout.

Have been looking forward to this one for a long time. Thanks eagle for this. Poured a cloudy brownish color with a small white head. Aroma was lots of spices and some chocolate, some dark chocolate. Flavor was much the same roasted malts in. Expected more funk, but solid beer.

750ml bottle. Pours a somewhat transparent dark brown color with a persistent tan head. Aromas of caramel malt and coriander. Flavor is bitter earthy hops, roasted malt, mocha, and a somewhat sweet orange peel finish. Interesting but probably not with its high price tag...
