Spicy aroma, full of caramel, plums, coffee, dates, and other miscellaneous dried fruits and berries. Resinous dates and dried plums in the flavor, slightly roasty, and lightly tart. Medium carbonation is very tingly on the tongue. Very nice. beerhugger (541), Oshawa, Ontario, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 4, 2005 Rich brown with a lasting tan head. Odd yeasty malty spicy aroma with lots going on but I had a difficult time knowing exactly what it was. Sour tartness tempered with some citric yeastiness and woody maltiness. Nice. rauchbier (2996), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England

Big spicy nose with hints of cinnamon and anise noticable, sweet and spicy in the mouth with a suggestion of cookies and chocolate powder but tempered by a slight tartness. Gentle fruity citric finish with lingering soft warming spices.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 21, 2005 Deep mahogany black colour. Mostly lasting beige-ish head. Nose of musty yeast, dark cocoa, dirt, over-ripe plum, faintly salty, olive, citrus, spice. Palate is as complex as the nose, with a nice mouthfeel, finishing with a yeast flavour unmatched by most. Earthy, wood, sour fruit, peppery bite. I have been thoroughly enjoying the Fantome’s brews lately, and they are quite extraordinary. Maybe its just a yeast addiction. Anyways, get em whilest you can! Indra (2025), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 18, 2005 Bottled. Immediately engaging, complex aroma, spicy, roasty and uniquely fruity and lightly tart with notes, in varying degrees, of plum, red grape, dark chocolate, pomegranate, earth, candle wax, leather, musky cologne and cinnamon. Ebony in color with deep mahogany highlights and a lasting, uneven head. Flavor profile is roasty, bittersweet and malty, earthy, darkly fruity and dry with a long, tangy, woody and lightly peppery finish. Gently acidic and smooth on the palate with a medium-full body. Really quite fascinating and utterly unique. hobgoblin (163), St-Épiphane, Quebec, Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 12, 2005 Bottle. Mondial de la bière 2005. Dark brown color with ruby reflection and little brown head. Lightly malty and sugary aroma. Taste is sour, roasted malt and sugar but quite a nice taste, not bad.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 8, 2005 Bottle. Deep brown in colour, lasting beige head. Crazy Fantôme aroma with lots of yeast, some sourness, mild citrus along with roasted malts and earth. The flavour was yeasty, musty, spicy, bready malts, slightly acidic (lemon) and some toastiness. Medium body, high carbonation. Finishes with a mild bitterness. Really nice.
