TimE (1300), Tokyo, Japan Jun 8, 2005 I have never, ever seen so much pressure from a beer. We lost a quarter of the bottle opening it up. Green apples, barnyard, tart, cheese, spice in the nose. Very tart start to the mouth with green apples, earth, mold, but not rounded at all. Needs timie. Sour apples alcohol finish.
atpayne (615), Zionsville, Indiana, USA May 30, 2005 earthy dark brown with a fairly full brown head. Aroma is malty and fruity. Dark fruits, yeast, wheat, and some sweetness, all pervaid in the nose. Flavor is tangy and astringent. Sharp musty malt flavor with some backgroung bitterness. Earthy and dusty flavors, very complex with deep fruitness throughout. Medium to full body and very smooth and drinkable. Quite active, efverscient and at the same time, spicy. HumuloneRed (750), Portland, Oregon, USA May 28, 2005 Bottle. Dark red with good head and lacing. Creamy texture. Slight cinnamon nose with some pineapple. Spicy and malty flavor with hints of spruce. Very nice beer. mrkimchee (1414), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 23, 2005 hazy brown, tight beige head. aroma of black olive, cherry, raisin, spice, lemon, and yeast. flavour is sour and mildly toasty with a little bitter coffee and pithy lemon. interestingly complex and tasty. mj23 (63), south holland, Illinois, USA May 22, 2005 Complex taste. Great dark color with good lacing. Lots of spice, a toasted kind of flavor. Finished very well. Overall a very interesting beer. Pailhead (2572), Allen Park, Michigan, USA May 16, 2005 Bottle: Courtesy of jsquire at Schroppfy’s gathering. Light dark malts and lots of spice with a moderate sweetness and light sourness. Pours an orangish-brown with an off-white head and some sediment. Flavor is a funky coffee with a light chocolate and some spice. This one’s just not working for me. TBone (6676), Pori, Finland May 16, 2005 Bottled
Dark brown, almost opaque. Tanned creamy head. Typical Fantome barnyard-nose, some alcohol, roasted malts and yeast too. Flavor with roasted malts is like drinking Irish Stout plus much more: spices (black pepper), barnyard, cardboard. Spicey aftertaste. Complex, interesting and very earthy. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA May 14, 2005 Darkish brown with a thin tan head. Aromas of rich malts, raisens and vanilla. Taste is malty and lightly sour with some lemon and caramel. High abv was a bit of a welcome surprise. Quite tasty.
