Commercial Description:
Once described as a Belgian Irish-style stout, Black Ghost has undergone lots of changes over the years. It now bears no resemblance whatsoever to a stout, and brewer Dany Prignon has begun adding spices to the beer. What they are is anybody's guess...the Fantôme confounds once again.

Black color with brown edges. Not much aroma. Some richness in the flavor but very delicate. Not what I expected at all.

Dark brownish black in color, tan head. Spicy, malty, kind of funky along with some darker fruits: grapes and cherries. Mildly tart, finishes dry. Very interesting and I dug it quite a bit.

Aroma is interesting as it has spice and candied malt. Cloudy brown, fine beige head. Taste has an almondness, with some pitfruit and red grapes too. Very bitter and dry. Pretty good. Thanks IPFreely

Muddy dark brown w/ frothy, light brown foam. Roasty, yeasty, malty aroma that is also somewhat musty, spicy, & woody. Medium-full, mildly acidic feel. Yeasty, malty, spicy flavour w/ a hint of tartness. Very peppery finish.

Thanks to Tim for this one. Dark with reddish light filtering through. Funky sour lemon candy. Meaty? Rich malt, sour meat, funk, alcohol. Sweet barley molasses finish. I have no idea what is going on here.. and I like it

trappist / immediately when i pop the cork i can smell pineapple, sugary pears, and wheat. the pour sounds like cola, but what’s left is a thick and dark brown body with no highlight. the head is super tight, big, and sparkly; it diminishes slowly in a rocky, soapy fashion. mmm. good beer. this reminds me of a brown, but with a belgian twist--it’s from belgium, durr! think brown, but with elements of age and a little bit of a geuze. in time, the aroma and flavor becomes more and more complex, warmer, but still enjoyable. UPDATE: and it’s warm... it’s more like a sugary, woody geuze/brown.

This beer poured a cloudy brown color w/ thin head and lacing. The aroma had dark fruit sweetness, slight citrus, flowers, and nicely fruity. The flavor had dark fruit, citrus, and pears. The mouthfeel was light and creamy.
