3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, 75 cl, shared with my two sons. Murky orange amber with a huge, big, oversized beige head, slowly diminishing leaving nice lacings and yeast floating. Srange, yet enticing aroma of yeast, spices, rubber and barnyard. Taste is strange too with a very dry yet creamy mouthfeel and a heavy hoppy bitter finish with notes of grass and earth. Notes of licorice, cocoa powder and cinnamon bark (I guess). Fab one!

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, pours a murky brown color, deep in body with sporadic lacing and medium sized head. Aromas of tobacco, pepper, sour fruit funk, chocolate, and yeast. Taste is rye, oak, caramel, very sweet, light acidic, and a nutty like peanut butter finish. Kinf of odd but not terrible. Medium bodied with light carbonation. My least favorite of the ghost series.

25/VIII/2012 75cl bottle from Dranken Geers (Oostakker) @ my parents in law’s place - BB: n/a (2012-965)
Bit cloudy red brown beer, small light beige aery head, unstable, non adhesive, dissipates immediately. Aroma: fruity, some caramel, bit dusty, cola like aroma, smoke, some citrus. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: very smoky, no really, lots and lots of smoke. Some overripe fruits, touch of caramel, bitter hops. Aftertaste: lots of smoke, pretty bitter hops, some citrus, mainly smoke, seriously.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a super muddy murky brown with a beige head. Aroma is super strange, lots of leather and some smoke notes, burnt rubber, spices like anise, toasted malt, sweet malt, yeast esters and dark fruits. The flavor follows the nose with lots of leather and smoke, the burnt rubber, toasted and sweet malt, yeast esters, darker fruits and the spice notes with mostly anise like flavors. The body is medium with a dry and chalky mouth feel. Overall a really strange brew, but I actually like it, makes me want to try more Fantome.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
75cl bottle at CPK, London. New label. It pours a dark brown color with an insane amount of khaki foam. Aroma is roasty, woody and smokey. Taste is mostly on the bitter side, with roasty notes and a definite peaty presence. Some slight tartness to it. Medium to full body and nice carbonation. Overall, very strange and somehow less enjoyable than the average Fantome offering.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly cloudy reddish copper color with a nice 2 finger fluffy khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Good spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas of coriander, cherry, clove, raisin, roasted grain, pear, earth, hay, cocoa, peppercorn, must, light funk, and yeast spices. Very nice and interesting aromas with good balance and complexity. Taste of cherry, pear, raisin, roasted grain, cocoa, coriander, clove, earth, hay, pepper, grass, toast, herbal, must, and yeast spiciness. Fair amount of peppery spice on the finish; with lingering notes of cherry, dried fruits, roasted grain, cocoa, clove, pepper, toast, earth, and yeast spices on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance between roasted flavors and spiciness; great amount of flavor complexity. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy and fairly crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is extremely well hidden for 8%, with pretty much zero warming noticed at all after the finish. Overall this is an excellent dark saison! A lot of nice complexity and balance of flavors; and very smooth to sip on. Very unique and interesting; but very enjoyable.

UPDATED: AUG 27, 2012
75 cl bottle @ vPBF, no BBE info
Quite high viscosity when pouring. Aroma is quite nothing with some spices and hints of licorice. Flavour is spicy with pepper, chili, some rosemary and hints of apricot. Weird and way too high on spices, not a total disaster though. The chili notes are nice here.
