(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours a hazy, dark brown with an orange hue. Head is completely absent. Lightly tart, spicy nose. A little thin and almost completely flat. No real malty feel - just this weird acidity. Must’ve been a bad bottle. 280907

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Oakes (10191) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 22, 2004
Murky chestnut colour. Aroma show smoke, brown sugar, plums, dates. Dry woody, funky flavours abound, with plum again, and slight toffee and a faint hint of acidity. It’s also quite yeasty. Despite all this, it failed to have the same life to it that many other Fantomes do. Tough to explain, but it lacked the intangible greatness that many of Dany’s other beers have.

(750ml bottle) Pours a murky chestnut brown body with a moderate beige head. Aroma of toasted malt, vinous, and cocoa. Flavor of chocolate, plum, toasted malt, grapes, citrus, and brown sugar. Smooth, malty mouthfeel that was extremely drinkable (or at least I was very thirsty.)
