Commercial Description:
Once described as a Belgian Irish-style stout, Black Ghost has undergone lots of changes over the years. It now bears no resemblance whatsoever to a stout, and brewer Dany Prignon has begun adding spices to the beer. What they are is anybody's guess...the Fantôme confounds once again.

Thanks to Dave at By The Bottle for this brew! Poured a deep brown-grey body with a nonexistent head/ Spicy, peppery, smoky body. Peats, dry papery nose. Good, gripping, gritty mouthfeel. Some chocolate, oak, nut, vanilla, fruit, pepper flavors. Complex and ripe. Quite tasty. Thanks, Dave!

750ml bottle from South Bay Drug. Pours a murky swamp water brown with a big fizzy off white head. Farmhouse funk with some aged citrus peel on the nose. Flavor was funky with some fruit and acidity.

cloudy purple in color and a long lasting creamy almost dark tan head..the aroma kept me sniffing for almost 10 minutes as it released insane notes of chocolate, leather, barnyards, mildewy books, dimetab cough syrup, dust, black cherries, cobwebs, and tart concord grapes..the flavor was very similiar to the fantome noel, yet even more drinkable..it gave hints of plastic, cocoa covered dark plums and puckery plum skins..it had a tart grape backbone with dark dried fruits like apricots and candied cherries, and something just plain strange..insanity redefined

MIBF ’05 Deep golden in color with a small white head. Aroma of pepper, herbs and spices. Flavor is like a spruce forest with a bitter dry finish.

Sampled the night before DLD thanks to someone? A slightly hazed brown pour with an off white head. A slightly chocolate and fruity aroma. A raisiny flavor with a hint of bitter. Just a tad over carbonated for me. Overall a good beer I would recommend.

Almost mud colored with lots of sediment. Decent light tan foamy head. Smell is barnyard, almost sour like, malts, and horsey. Taste is sweet, tart, fruit, sour like goodness. Lots of complexity, very good.

A saison/flanders red ale and a finely crafted one at that. Earthy brown in color with a frothy cream head and high amount of carbonation, this beer has an aroam that is earthy and mysterious with cherry vinegar notes. Perhaps coincidentally, this beer neatly complements the pagan/druidic elements in ’The Wicker Man,’ which I watched this Hallow’s eve. A sour note persistently permiates the body with enigmatic herbs and bitter bites swirling in the mix. A work of arful craftmanship and a beer that grew on me from glass to glass. Far better than my first Flanders experience.
