Very carbonated, fully hazy amberish orange beer under a huge, irregular yellow to orangeish head. Heated citrus, orangesauce, grains, pumpkin in the nose. Sharp toasted flavour, spicy & yeasty. Again some vegetable as pumpkin, heated; faintly bitterish with a vegetable-sweet underbuild. Finish has something smokey-sulphury, but not disagreable. Faint hints at clove, white pepper, horseradish and other dry spices. Warming up, however, a very clearly defined taste of liquorice appears, and truly as when chewing the wood. Sharpish MF, very spritzy, very slick and medium bodied; very faint alcoholimpression. Not unloveable, special (as expected...), but it is not one to keep drinking.

Bottle, shared at Thanksgiving dinner with guests. Gusher!! Very hazy light orange with a massive wall of bubbles for a head. Funky, lightly sour, with flavours of quince and tea and hints of smokey earth. Very interesting, and a welcome change of pace from the usual fall lineup of pumpkin beers.

Bottle, courtesy of myself... shared in a location remote of my dining room.
Pours hazy with a light orange color with a small head and good lacing on the glass.

The aroma is spicy and floral, a bit metallic, and generally unexciting.

The flavor is plenty spicy with a sir tot leafy character. It’s fairly dry and nicely bitter throughout. It’s a nice tasting beer for sure.

Pours hazy dark orangish color with off white head. Funky Fantome aroma with some dough and spices. Similar flavors. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

P: Orange/amber with a one finger head that becomes a thin lacing. S: Fruity and smokey. You have some peach in there, barnyard funk, hay, alcohol with the smoke around it. T: Concentrate fruit juice, some spoiled fruit, maybe some strawberries and pumpkin in there as well. There is some smoke, herbs barnyard funk, wood, and light alcohol in the finish. M: Light with medium carbonation. O; I was expecting a huge mess, but it wasn’t, for the most part it was just that smoke.

Pour out of 750 ml bottle, thanks Aaron! Hazy orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of biscuit, bread, nice dough, nice vegetal pumpkin note, nice spice. Taste is a mix of dark caramel, toffee, hints of oak, earth, hints of grain, touch of slight earthy vegetal, finishing bitter, sweet.

Bottle @ Steve’s house. Pours a hazy dull orange appearance with a tan head. Husky, chalky grainy nose with some light funk and citrus. Twangy, a touch tart flavor. Chewy straw, dusty hay, earthy / herbal flavor. Some citrus. Spicy yeast and spicy hops. Ok but not that great.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a snifter and a tulip and just a little bit into a chalice. It all looks the same. The appearance was a light hazy golden orange to brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. The smell was barnyard funk with a whole ton of that leathery stuff. The taste was tart and super sour, off balanced with no sweetness. The palate had a mouth puckering almost made my tongue want to jump out of my mouth. Overall, people actually drink this shit. Wow, I wouldn’t touch it with a ten foot pole as this stuff would probably make the damn pole disintegrate due to the over acidity of this beer.

Batch 1 purchased from Etre Gourmet a year or two ago. Been sitting quietly in the cellar since, figured I would give it a spin tonight. Pours a relatively clear amber/orange in color with about a finger and a halfs worth of off-white head. Nose is comprised of cantalope, pumpkin spice, and honeydew melon. Flavor mirrors the nose in that it’s predominately cantalope and melon with some backing pumpkin and a light tart finish. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, slight sweetness, a little sticky, and a long finish. Big step up from the last bottle I opened about a year ago. The smoke is nonexistent at this point and this has morphed into an extraordinary beer. I worry that bottle variation will prevent me from picking up more of this in the future, but I would love to see how this develops.

Corked and capped bottle from Tipples. Lot number 25-8-12. Pours mostly clear orange with a small off white head. Funky yeast aroma, spice, lots more funk, light hops, hay and grass, some fruity sweetness. Flavor is light hay, fruit sweetness of apples and pears, peaches/apricots, bananas, some spice, cloves, lots of farmhouse hearty funk. Has some tripel notes and Saison notes. Prickly carbonation and medium mouthfeel. I am really enjoying this one and wish I had it in the fall as it would make a nice autumn seasonal. Not sure why the ratings are so low here unless they made a bunch of bad batches before this (I guess characteristic of Fantome).
