Very good saison. matt7215 (942), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Oct 29, 2009 750 ml bottle from a trade with boutip. 2005 vintage. slow gusher. pours hazed orange with a huge tan head. aroma of red apple skin, white wine, pale malt decay. flavour slight wild sourness, some lemon, some dust, very very old hops memories. its crazy to think that this beer was not meant to age yet 4+ years in the bottle have left it this enjoyable. if i ever get the opportunity to try this beer again i hope its a fresher bottle but if i dont ill at least know where it stands 4 years deep. zvikar (413), Tel-Aviv, Israel Oct 28, 2009 At a tasting, thanks Shahar, pours hazy bright yellowwith a large white head, wild aromas, yeat, white wine, banana and clove, flavor is very bitter with some hay, grass, apples, orange, cinammon and nice acidity, complex and tasty. tomer (365), Rishon Le Zion, Israel Oct 28, 2009 At a tasting, many thanks Shachar, very hazy lemon colour, aromas of grass and flowers with notes of sugar cane, flavours of grapefruit, peach and apricot and nuts which also dominates a very mellow aftertaste, and apleasant solid bitterness, good. DSG (1501), Tel Aviv, Israel Oct 28, 2009 Bottle sample at a tasting. Thanks Shachar. Hazy orange color with a white head. Aroma is flowery with some yeast, grainy notes, some funky character and fruits. Very bitter flavor with fresh fruits, some grassy and citric notes and some spicy funky hints. Medium-bodied. Mmm... Bitter... Refreshing. Edmoe (126), Orlando, Florida, USA Oct 23, 2009 Mahogany with a modest head. Nice tartness, but not nearly as bitter as the brewers make it out to be. Finishes nicely. Very good beer. BigBeer45 (676), Troy, Michigan, USA Oct 19, 2009 Bottle, pours like a mixture of apple juice and lemonade, has the lemonade dirty hazy look with some apple juice color, there is a faint red-amber hue found when held up to a light,
hardly a head, there is a thick ring at the sides of the glass, I saw some faint fine bubbled effervescence at the sides of the glass, I could get a little more bubbles when I swirled the glass,
faint aroma of field flowers, some earthiness, faint honey bread sweetness, and tea aroma(?),
flavor of light earthy malt, some citrus sour on the palate, sends a little tinges into my nostrils but not as much as some other Fantome ales, fleeting candy sweetness at the beginning of the sip and turns dry and sour quickly,
medium mouth feel, finish is mostly dry and easy to drink,
I thought this ale had a so-so nose and flavor (bad or old bottle?), I can see this as a Summer drink and alcohol is hidden well but I was disappointed with this drink.
