BlackForestCO (819), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Mar 8, 2008 Updated: Mar 23, 2009Bottle thanks to DragonStout, thanks for the hook up Brian. Poured a slightly hazy orange-gold color with a thick off-white head that left great lacing. Aroma of spice, orange, and lemon zest. Light, smooth citrus upon entry leads into spicy, zesty finish that is bitter and dries the palate out well. Feels really nice on the palate, very aggressive and biting. Overall, a much better beer that my first Fantome beer. This is a good beer, I like it. Thanks again Brian. bma4573 (136), Mechanicsville, Maryland, USA Mar 8, 2008 Poured on tap at Max’s Belgian fest 08, a cloudy golden color, with a slightly carbonated head. Sweet but subtle fruity and malt flavor. Really good saison. Syd (888), Waconia, Minnesota, USA Mar 7, 2008 Big bottle pours a dull gold brown with a bright white head that seems to lace nicely. The aroma is barnyard, wheat field in humidity, restrained hops, leather, and sour fruit. The flavor is surprisingly sweet and malty up front, with a massive funk and yeast wave to follow. All along there is some lemon sour fruit in a sidecar to keep your eye off the road and distracted. But hey, look who also jumped in the sidecar as it warms - mister banana! The palate is medium to rich, more so than expected. There is a lingering note of sugar crystals here and there – literally like someone was able to infuse the bottle with non-dissolving sugar crystals to hit the tongue like little asteroids. Yeast is everywhere in this symphony of flavor. This beer is complex and underrated. I love ratings where you are hit from all sides in the flavor department. As this thing warms, there is so much to identify. Call me intoxicated, but I love it – the beer! Hmm, must get more of this... PhillyBeer2112 (2084), Orange Park, Florida, USA Mar 2, 2008 Starts with a surprisingly hoppy nose, herbal and citric, with alot of lemon juice, acetaldehyde, and doughy yeastiness. Mildly herbal flavors with a medium bitter finish. Malts are mildly sweet, bready and doughy, with a mild tartness. On the whole rather spritely and refreshing, a great beer for a warm Florida Sunday in March afternoon. Hazy amber color with huge protein rich creamy head. holdenn (1432), Chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 29, 2008 Thanks to xnoxhatex for this sample from the bottle. Pours a hazy yellow with a white head. Light tart aroma. Spices, barnyard, and wheat. Spices, lemon, grain, and slight funk in the flavor. The funkiness and tartness were barely there and way too subdued for me. Decent beer, but a little disappointing for such a phenomenal brewery. ThomasE (5179), Copenhagen, Denmark Feb 28, 2008 Cloudy yellow colour with a white head. Malty, fruity and light tart aroma with yeasty notes. Malty, tart and sweet fruity flavor with yeasty citric notes. Light dry and yeasty finish. xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA Feb 24, 2008 Bottle from WLV. Cloudy yellow orange with large white head, nice lacing. Oaky, spicy aroma, subtle hops, very nice. Oaky, grapey flavor, house yeast, dry. Medium, creamy body. Actually better as it warmed up, great fantome house yeast. KateO (6), Holiday, Florida, USA does not count Feb 22, 2008 Tasted with BM: Smells like sour fruit, kinda like sour patch kids. The color is orangey gold with a white fizzy head that lingers. The taste is very bitter with hints of the sour fruits and leaves a icky taste in your mouth once its down. Thin palate and only the first few sips go down smooth. The more I drink the less I like.. I guess I’m not that big of a bitter beer fan.
