Commercial Description:
With joy and a little bit of mischief, Fantôme brewer Dany Prignon dedicates this very bitter beer to all of the many varieties of brise-bonbons - literally, ball-breakers - in the world. Specifically, this beer is meant for wise-guys, braggarts, pains-in-the-ass, muck-rakers, troublemakers, know-it-alls, stuffed-shirts, blow-hards and bores, as well as nut-cracking, wind-bag, prattling-on, self-appointed experts on everything, and nose-in-the-air snobs, convinced they can do anything better than you. Dany intended to make a beer too bitter for a normal person to enjoy. The problem is, everyone loves it! Guess we're all just a bunch of brise-bonbons sometimes...

Tasted with BM: Smells like sour fruit, kinda like sour patch kids. The color is orangey gold with a white fizzy head that lingers. The taste is very bitter with hints of the sour fruits and leaves a icky taste in your mouth once its down. Thin palate and only the first few sips go down smooth. The more I drink the less I like.. I guess I’m not that big of a bitter beer fan.

From bottle 750 ml : Pours a very nice hazy orange color, with lots of carbonation and a finger of white foamy head with good retention. Nose is a little faint, but what is there is big time farmhouse smells, sour fruits and yeast. Taste i cant say is as good. It is somewhat faint as well, with spices, and flowers, and some yeast. Aftertaste is a malty type taste. Feels incredible light in the mouth, and goes down like cotton candy, i can barley feel it. Overall not bad.

750 bottle capped and corked poured a somewhat hazy rusty amber in color with a thick one finger head that backed off to a layer with great retention. aroma consists of yeast, grains, light sour fruit, with some musty barnyard but not as much as expected. mouth feel is medium thick with malt in a sorta silky way. flavor has much more malts than in the nose giving it some chewiness, full flavored yeast, definitely a good dose of bitters, and grains. has a very drying quality to it finishing with yeasty bitterness. a nice change on the style with some caramel coming across as well. last glass had plenty of yeast and sediment and was the best tasting glass to me.

On tap at Max’s. Light yellow-amber pour with a white head. Almost no aroma...some fruits. Bitter taste of grains. A little rough. Didn’t like it that much

Pours a cloudy bright orange with three finger head. Smell: sweet belgian pale malt with citrus muskiness. Taste: initially sweet that diapears in a nano second, holy shit that becomes dry. bone dry! In that nano second between pleasant malt sweetness and life sucking dryness is some spice and citrus tartness. Finish is earthy and full of bitter old hops. I like it! Carbonation is high and adds a nice spritz to the beer. Alcohol presence not noticeable at all.

Pours hazy orange with a generous sudsy beige head. The aroma is quite spicy along with nectar fruits, moderate sweetness and richer malt than most saisons. Medium crisp body with lots of fairly sharp carbonation, but it somehow enhances the flavor. The flavor starts with dry flowers, peppery spices, underlying fruitiness and noticable toasted malt. The finish is incredibly crisp and spicy as well as being pleasantly sour. As the beer warms chamomile tastes start emerging as well as some green tea. This is 8%?? I can’t taste it at all. Thumbs up for this fantastic saison.

This great looking saison swirled with a light head and produced an aroma of grapefruit and wheat. The first taste was so complex with the intended bitterness, I slowly drank the whole glass trying to discern every nuance. Eventually, the 750ml was gone, but it was a great after dinner ale.

Fizzy white head on top of the slightly hazy golden beer. Smells nice and funky with lots of grapefruit and corky aroma. Flavor is really citrusy and a little bit sweet, less sour than some saisons and not as funky as the aroma leads on. Tasty -- I can drink lots of this, which could get expensive fast.
