Commercial Description:
With joy and a little bit of mischief, Fantôme brewer Dany Prignon dedicates this very bitter beer to all of the many varieties of brise-bonbons - literally, ball-breakers - in the world. Specifically, this beer is meant for wise-guys, braggarts, pains-in-the-ass, muck-rakers, troublemakers, know-it-alls, stuffed-shirts, blow-hards and bores, as well as nut-cracking, wind-bag, prattling-on, self-appointed experts on everything, and nose-in-the-air snobs, convinced they can do anything better than you. Dany intended to make a beer too bitter for a normal person to enjoy. The problem is, everyone loves it! Guess we're all just a bunch of brise-bonbons sometimes...

This is my second go-round with Brise-BonBons. Bottle, pours a hazy orange, decent and long-lasting head, off white in color. Scents of soy and hay. Rich flavor, silky sweetness, touch of candy corn, vanilla and butter cream. One of the best offerings I’ve had from Fantome.

Bottled at Chris O’s tasting, 26th Sept 2008. Yellowy amber with a line of whitish head. Aroma is Robinson’s Lemon Barley Water. Rather creamy with a citrus and bread taste similar to a wheat beer. Nicely dry at the swallow and very clean on the palate.

750 ml. Peppery and herbal, this is another delicious saison from Fantome. Inviting huge, pillowy white head, slowly diminishing, above a hazy, gold-orange body. The aroma is yeasty with mustiness, malty with toasted grain and hoppy with a herbal, grassy scent. Distinct notes of celery salt and white pepper with hints of grass, hay, herbs. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. The finish is lightly sweet and very dry. Thin to medium body and a disappointing watery texture. Lively carbonation. Peppery, lightly alcoholic flavor lingers. Artful.

Bottle, capped, from Liquid Solutions. BB date not marked. Hazy orange color with bubbles and smear, but no head. Aroma of mildly sour light stone fruits with perhaps a touch of citrus. Medium body with little carbonation. Flavor is a varying citrus with surges towards barnyard, but really light barnyard. Finish is a little wood licking with fruit notes on the side. Good drink. Might be an intro for some.

Bottle thanks to Bhops. Pours with a small, white head and a hazy golden body. Decent lacing. Aroma is sour with a sweet element and spices. Tastes is sweet-then-sour, with a lot of lemon or citrus bitterness. Light carbonation and a bit syrupy for a saison.
