3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This is my favorite offering from this brewery. I prefer the heavily hopped, well-attenuated interpretation of saison over the spice teas that are usually done by this brewery. This one has a nice aromatic and palate dryness that makes it dangerously drinkable at 8% ABV. Before I knew it, I was at the end of the bottle and craving some more.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
From notes. Enjoyed at Doug’s house on July 04 for the first beer I’ve brewed with him! 750 mL bottle. The pour on this one is a golden orange with a huge white head that slowly dissipates, carrying a slight fizziness to it. The aroma is a little off. It’s very herbal and bready. There is a spiciness to it and some strong alcohol. The flavor is, well, not that good. Very herbal and spicy. And then it kind of turns. This is definitely off, even though it didn’t gush. The bitterness is huge, like you’d expect, but it’s metallic and almost a bit spoiled. The mouth feel is thick and heavy with a strong bitter back end and a souring that is almost like lactose. It’s not good at all. This one got cartwheeled right down the drain. Guess I’m not 1/2 on Fantôme beers.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
October 26, 2015. Bottle at home, bottled june 2014.
Clear dark golden with a large frothy and quickly dissipating white head. Aroma is sweet malty with rye, hard bread, grass, hay, citrus, herbs and alcohol.
Taste is sweet malty with a soft bitterness and hints of alcohol. Finish is quite bitter with a dry grassy and herbal note, sweet malty with hard bread, toffee notes, peach and some warming alcohol in the finish. Medium bodied, soft to average carbonation, slightly oily texture.
Nice belgian strong ale with a distinct note of hard bread and a very dry bitter finish backed up by a malry sweetness and some warming alcohol.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This pours and looks great, and has a herbal/citrussy aroma. The mouthfeel is fizzy, a bit like sherbet. Taste-wise, it is again herbal, but in a very agreeable way. The aftertaste brings the bitterness, which lingers in the mouth for a long time - however, it's a good bitterness, which counterbalances well with the other flavours, and is more subtle and long lived than you might expect. In summary, another great beer from Fantome!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
(Fantôme Brise-BonBons!) Bottle 750 ml at home, served into a tulip, ABV 8%
Bright golden orange colour on the body, mostly clear, with a small but thick enough white head on top, with pretty good retention, leaving light lacing on the glass.
Aroma of citrus, lemon peel, lemon leaves, grass, like you landed in a field where lemon trees are blooming.
Great taste, begins with a touch of sweetness along with lemon sourness, then this turns to a strong bitterness. Lots of citrus flavours again, light yeast, fresh cut grass, a touch of alcohol on the finish. At the end the biitterness becomes stronger and stronger, without being harsh though.
Medium body with good carbonation, quite dry on the palate.
Great beer, very refreshing too, will make sure to get more of this next time.

Bottle from Etre Gourmet, bought in 2012.
Slightly hazy golden with a large white head. On the sweet side with yeast, fruit, some candy, light spices and orange. Not that bitter and with a lively carbonation. A descent beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml bottle at home from notes. Pours a hazy golden with a hint of orange color and a medium plus sized white head. The aroma and flavor have herbal and grassy hops, floral, hint of citrus, the typical Fantome funk from their house yeast and whatever else they dug up off the property, dusty, dry, decent bitterness for a saison, solid.
