"With joy and a little bit of mischief, Fantôme brewer Dany Prignon dedicates this very bitter beer to all of the many varieties of brise-bonbons - literally, ball-breakers - in the world. Specifically, this beer is meant for wise-guys, braggarts, pains-in-the-ass, muck-rakers, troublemakers, know-it-alls, stuffed-shirts, blow-hards and bores, as well as nut-cracking, wind-bag, prattling-on, self-appointed experts on everything, and nose-in-the-air snobs, convinced they can do anything better than you. Dany intended to make a beer too bitter for a normal person to enjoy. The problem is, everyone loves it! Guess we’re all just a bunch of brise-bonbons sometimes..." - Shelton Brothers

Speciell på många sätt. Dofta ladugård och gödsel. Syrlig smak med eftersmak av hö, blött gräs, vått trä och svettig gymnastiksal. Annorlunda är bara förnamnet.

Pours hazy orange golden with a small white head; aroma is banana with clove, somehow aged, quite fruity but also a lot of herbal and grassy notes as the beer warms in the glass; taste is fruity, ripe banana, grapefruit, slightly spicy, alcoholic, then the hops take over, herbal, grassy, medium to very bitter finish with spiciness; carbonation is medium, mouthfeel is creamy

Bottle 9,4 oz. at Slacker. Pours hazy orange with medium off-white head. Aroma of malts, orange peel, peach, herbs. Taste is grass, spices, glue or rubber. Definitely not my taste.

Bottle with Bob. Hazy golden with a medium sized white good lacing head. Dry grass, hay, honey in the nose. Fairly rustique and not a wacky spice rollercoaster like some Fantome. Earth, wood, twigs, honey, dry grass, herbal. Fine soft carbonation and filing mouthfeel. Full body, carries the alcohol well. Bitter finish. Rough. Smells like homebrew.

Pana nieduża, szybko opada do chmurki. Barwa złoto pomarańczowa, lekko mętna. Aromat estrowo fenolowo funky - jest trochę brzoskwiń, suszonych moreli, kandyzowanej skórki pomarańczy, przypraw i siana. W smaku półsłodkie, dokładnie odwzorowujące to, co w zapachu plus jakieś miodowe nuty w afterteasie. Goryczka niska do średniej, mniszkowo pikantna, piecząca, nieprzyjemna. Wysycenie średnie, drobne, musujące.
Piwo znacznie gorsze od sztandarowego Saison z tego browaru. Przede wszystkim niefajna goryczka, mało dzikie i niezbalansowane. Czuć tu nieprzyjemny posmak mleczu.

Bottle. Thanks! A: White head with an orange body. N: Peppercorn, wheat, weed, extremely herbal. A bit of cracker underneath. Admittedly, I didn’t spend much time on this one, because, frankly, it wasn’t really worth it. T: Extremely bitter - and not in the enjoyable IPA sense. It’s more like that chalky bitterness which most people find unappetizing. M: Light body, alcohol presence, crisp carbonation. O: Guess I’m not a Brise-BonBons, because I very much disliked this. Not worth one’s time.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange copper color with a large white head. A big funky sweet nose. Spicy notes, dusty, funky soft notes of spices. Very fun. Lively beer. Light, no alcohol at all shown. Lemons.

From notes. Enjoyed at Doug’s house on July 04 for the first beer I’ve brewed with him! 750 mL bottle. The pour on this one is a golden orange with a huge white head that slowly dissipates, carrying a slight fizziness to it. The aroma is a little off. It’s very herbal and bready. There is a spiciness to it and some strong alcohol. The flavor is, well, not that good. Very herbal and spicy. And then it kind of turns. This is definitely off, even though it didn’t gush. The bitterness is huge, like you’d expect, but it’s metallic and almost a bit spoiled. The mouth feel is thick and heavy with a strong bitter back end and a souring that is almost like lactose. It’s not good at all. This one got cartwheeled right down the drain. Guess I’m not 1/2 on Fantôme beers.

October 26, 2015. Bottle at home, bottled june 2014.
Clear dark golden with a large frothy and quickly dissipating white head. Aroma is sweet malty with rye, hard bread, grass, hay, citrus, herbs and alcohol. Taste is sweet malty with a soft bitterness and hints of alcohol. Finish is quite bitter with a dry grassy and herbal note, sweet malty with hard bread, toffee notes, peach and some warming alcohol in the finish. Medium bodied, soft to average carbonation, slightly oily texture.
Nice belgian strong ale with a distinct note of hard bread and a very dry bitter finish backed up by a malry sweetness and some warming alcohol.
