Commercial Description:
With joy and a little bit of mischief, Fantôme brewer Dany Prignon dedicates this very bitter beer to all of the many varieties of brise-bonbons - literally, ball-breakers - in the world. Specifically, this beer is meant for wise-guys, braggarts, pains-in-the-ass, muck-rakers, troublemakers, know-it-alls, stuffed-shirts, blow-hards and bores, as well as nut-cracking, wind-bag, prattling-on, self-appointed experts on everything, and nose-in-the-air snobs, convinced they can do anything better than you. Dany intended to make a beer too bitter for a normal person to enjoy. The problem is, everyone loves it! Guess we're all just a bunch of brise-bonbons sometimes...

Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet citrusy and yeasty as well as with light notes of brettanomyce. The flavor is sweet acidic with notes of citrus, yeast, and brettanomyces. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

(Bottle 75 cl) Slightly hazy, pale golden with an off-white head. Lightly Brettish nose with a note of fustiness. Medium body with lightly sweet malts, a little citrus and again Brett and fusty accents. Some astringency without being overly bitter. 301107

From bottle, no 22 at Papsoes blindtasting. Pours hazy and somewhat pale yellow with a fully diminished white head. Citric and brett aroma. Mild citric towards mild brett flavoured. Has a mild sweetness which together with a mild spice note lingers into the finish. Quite nice and smooth. Slight woody in the far finish.

Draught. Caramel colour, small stable white head. Nice aromatic hoppiness. Low carbonation. 5 3 7 3 14

Bottle. Mild caramelly aroma. Cloudy amber colour. Very small white head. The flavour has a good citric note. The maltiness is OK, but a bit strange tasting. 6 3 6 3 16

Bottled (from belgianshop a long long time ago). Hazy orange golden colour with mediumsized slightly off-white head. Lacing. Aroma is quite much spices, earth, wood and some slight cardboardy dryness as wel. Flavour is quite grassy, earthy along with some spices, fruits and mild notes of bread and quite big yeastyness. True to the Fantome style, you never know exactly what you will get, but it sure as hell is drinkable.

Corked bottle

Cloudy blond color. Medium aroma, cellar, lemon peel; interesting. Thin body, with a difficult flavor: pepper, harsh citrus fruits, astringent... Too much yeast. Wrong.
