Commercial Description:
With joy and a little bit of mischief, Fantôme brewer Dany Prignon dedicates this very bitter beer to all of the many varieties of brise-bonbons - literally, ball-breakers - in the world. Specifically, this beer is meant for wise-guys, braggarts, pains-in-the-ass, muck-rakers, troublemakers, know-it-alls, stuffed-shirts, blow-hards and bores, as well as nut-cracking, wind-bag, prattling-on, self-appointed experts on everything, and nose-in-the-air snobs, convinced they can do anything better than you. Dany intended to make a beer too bitter for a normal person to enjoy. The problem is, everyone loves it! Guess we're all just a bunch of brise-bonbons sometimes...

cloudy reddish-orange colour with a fine regular foam; subtle hoppy nose with notes of orange peel and spices; creamy mouthfeel, low carbonation, medium-bodied at best; robust bitterness before a long aftertaste of spices, orange and cork

Bottle. Typical Fantome. Lots of peppery spice, nice slightly wild farmhousey characters. Apricoty/peachy sort of fruit, with a nice, dry peppery backbone.Nice bitterness and the alcohol is nicely hidden, yet still has a slight warming effect. Nicely balanced.

Draught Fully hazy amber, with olive shine; yellow-orangey tinted head, small but firm. Herbal, dry, hoppy nose - touch of brown sugar? Very tart, dry taste. Flavours of greenmalt, vegetable, grainy. Oppressive burning sensation for starters. Quite slick, medium to well-bodied. Some alcohol. Another one that is a bit young - deserves to be tasted again, bottled & ripened. Nose is very inviting, however.

Cloudy yellow colour with a white head. Malty, fruity and light tart aroma with yeasty notes. Malty, tart and sweet fruity flavor with yeasty citric notes. Light dry and yeasty finish.

Bottle, 75cl. It’s a hazy, orange beer with a minimal-sized white head. Berries, citrus and hints of cellar on the nose. The flavor has a sour, acidic fruityness, and a touch of berries and flower. Medium body with some astringency and quite a lot of carbonation. A quite nice beer, but a bit odd for my likings. 090822.

The Lure:
Green herbal hops punctuate the earthy lawn patches. Drops of sweat fluctuate amidst the citrus fruit intensity. Unique even for Fantôme, this dry hop cheese will surely fascinate your nostrils.

The Festivities:
Herbal hops achieve bitterness through the citrusy hay sieve. Soft and dry bread brushes against the hop rush and plush yeast. Ornate bubbles cover the lime zest. Eyebrow gymnastics follow each sip, from frown to amazement, from astonishment to worry. Who else but Dany Prignon can make you go through such a range of emotions through beer?

Transcendence:
The incomprehensible yet gripping nature of a dream sequence.

Courtesy of Moejuck. Pours amber with a thin white head. Smells of grapes, lots of grass, hay, wildflowers, some peaches. Tastes of peaches, pepper, grass and very wheaty with some underlying smokiness.

750ml bottle from boboski. Pours cloudy honey orange with a dense white head, in one glass I poured a perfect 1/2 inch, in another, it climed up to 3 inches, so it all depends on how careful you are. The nose is a wonderfully arid and dusty clover and beachwood yeast scent, with notes of floral spice and tart, dry lemon pepper. Mellow, even mouthfeel up front, moderately heavy, with flavors of dry wood and airy floral yeast, turning tart over the middle and finishing with a spicy, festive, dry and salty orange and lavendar flavor. Amazing stuff, and possibly one of the best Fantome’s I’ve had. Do rich and dusty and arid, yet spicy and slightly fruit as well. Awesome.
