"With joy and a little bit of mischief, Fantôme brewer Dany Prignon dedicates this very bitter beer to all of the many varieties of brise-bonbons - literally, ball-breakers - in the world. Specifically, this beer is meant for wise-guys, braggarts, pains-in-the-ass, muck-rakers, troublemakers, know-it-alls, stuffed-shirts, blow-hards and bores, as well as nut-cracking, wind-bag, prattling-on, self-appointed experts on everything, and nose-in-the-air snobs, convinced they can do anything better than you. Dany intended to make a beer too bitter for a normal person to enjoy. The problem is, everyone loves it! Guess we’re all just a bunch of brise-bonbons sometimes..." - Shelton Brothers

75cl bottle bb12/2014, Geers. Reviewed from memory upon clearing a dreg-stained & extra yeast-cultured bottle in the cellar. - - Cheese of mushy-fleshed fruits (melon, peach, pear, strawberry) slowly grilled on an extinguished open fire set the volatile stage for an conflict-laden pantomime of esters and brett. Old citrus to the rescue, dirty yeast and syupy wild honey to escalate tension. Against that backdrop, I did not get much of that ball-busting bitterness, some alcohol. A faux-naïf masterpiece and possibly a conscious? provocation of all palates raised on teutonically clean bore-brews.

Bottle, shared at RBAG 2014. Hazy light amber, oddly toasty nose for a saison. The palate is earthy estery caramel with some orchard fruits. Not what I was expecting.

Bottle. Initial light bitterness, then saison funkiness, quite fruity, strawberries and cream. Lingering bitterness there. Yum. Aroma has lots of booze that you can’t get in the taste. Hops too.

Bottled. Pours slightly hazy golden wit an average, white head. Aroma of yeast, a little funk, lemon, some spicyness and a bit of caramel. Sweet flav orvthat ends up dry and quite tart. Medium bodied, oily to watery texture and soft carb. A very nice Saison.
