Commercial Description:
With joy and a little bit of mischief, Fantôme brewer Dany Prignon dedicates this very bitter beer to all of the many varieties of brise-bonbons - literally, ball-breakers - in the world. Specifically, this beer is meant for wise-guys, braggarts, pains-in-the-ass, muck-rakers, troublemakers, know-it-alls, stuffed-shirts, blow-hards and bores, as well as nut-cracking, wind-bag, prattling-on, self-appointed experts on everything, and nose-in-the-air snobs, convinced they can do anything better than you. Dany intended to make a beer too bitter for a normal person to enjoy. The problem is, everyone loves it! Guess we're all just a bunch of brise-bonbons sometimes...

This is my second go-round with Brise-BonBons. Bottle, pours a hazy orange, decent and long-lasting head, off white in color. Scents of soy and hay. Rich flavor, silky sweetness, touch of candy corn, vanilla and butter cream. One of the best offerings I’ve had from Fantome.

From C&C 750. Pours a hazy orange with huge, foamy off white head. Nose has lots of spice, light floral/citrus with hints of malt. Flavor is fruit rind bitter, with a grapefruit aftertaste. Palate is creamy. Enjoyed this one.

This beer pours a hazy dark lemon color with a dense frothy head. More hop/grass sour tang than other Fantomes, but very tasty nonetheless. Taste became more well rounded after warming up and the mouthfeel was excellent. A unique Saison.

750ml bottle. Pours a hazy golden orange with a large off-white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is wild Fantôme yeast, pepper, herbal hops, citrus, and slightly acidic. Taste is peppery, loaded with herbal hops, citrus, funk, and slightly sour. Medium mouthfeel with a strong well balanced bitterness and light tart finish. Another wonderfull beer from Fantôme.

Guess who? Thanks again bobo. Pours a very hazy orange color, head is rocky and creamy. Aroma is full-on funk-a-licous, lemon zest, orange and some sweet tangerines coming through, I could smell this one for days. Flavor is spicy and wierd, in a very good way. This was a style of beer I was not to familiar with, but it is rapidly turning into one of my very favorites.

Bottle from WLV. Cloudy yellow orange with large white head, nice lacing. Oaky, spicy aroma, subtle hops, very nice. Oaky, grapey flavor, house yeast, dry. Medium, creamy body. Actually better as it warmed up, great fantome house yeast.

A very interesting variation on the Belgian schtick, though I’m not too experienced with saisons. It’s bitter, but not in a hoppy way as much as a mineraly/herby way. The body is full though a bit foamy from the bottle. A real nice beer for something unusual, but the bite is kind of harsh, though not as dramatic as I think they’d make it out to be. The bitterness is abrupt against a estery honey full mouthfeel.

Bottle from D’s. Apparently the first Fantome beer I’ve thought worthy of rating. Hazy golden body with nice foamy white head. Aroma of bananas, cloves, lemon zest and spices. Despite the description I didn’t find it all that bitter. Flavor was similar to the aroma but a bit stronger on the spiciness and some bitterness in the finish.
