Commercial Description:
A Belgian ’saison-style’ ale brewed with cocoa powder and chili pepper? Ay, Caramba! Score another first for the unpredictable brewery that was the first -- and so far the only - brewery to make ales out of dandelions and mushrooms, among other things.

Rich brown with a solid somewhat fizzy tan head. Earthy, sour fruit aroma with a chocolate malt component. The complex flavor contains the usual earthy components with the addition of subtle spiciness and chocolate. Fine tuned. No overkill.

Pours with a dark orange, hazy body and a large, creamy, off-white head. Good lacing. Nose of spice, hops and yeast. The flavour is light sweet with lemon, pepper and other kinds of spice. Heavy carbonation in the first glass. Slightly bitter finish with some sourness too. Light to medium bodied. As other raiters I can’t taste any chocolate. An interesting brew.

Poured on tap at Max’s Belgian Fest 08, a cloudy orange color, with a spicy citrus aroma. Sour citrus flavor, with a slight hint of hops/ grass. Personally couldn’t taste chocolate.

750 from trade. Shared with my gf Cyn and two friends Geoff and Chris. Pours orangey with bright white ring/island. Nose is citrussy, farmmy grassy, and a bit of sour. Taste is sweet and sour and citrussy, maybe with ever so slight note of chocolate.

Hazy golden/pale body with a tiny white head. The nose is hay, grass, cotton candy and lemon. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter with herbs, flowers, honey, dough and light chocolate. Medium body is round with moderate carbonation.

Corked bottle at patrick767 gathering. Small, fizzy vanilla head that mostly diminished, spotty amounts of lacing, carbonation was fizzy and fast rising, cloudy, and a butterscotch hue. Nose was sweet, lightly hoppy, hint of chocolate, fruity, and spicy notes. Ditto for the flavor only I didn’t detect any chocolate. Tingly mouthfeel and medium in body. Just so-so for the style as there are better out there of this style IMO.

750 mL bottle. Orange brown pour with a little bit of a white head. Nice spicy smell with lots chocolate tones. Nice slightly sweet slightly sour taste. Citrusy with chocolate flavor. The chocolate flavor is just right, not overpowering. A little thin, but otherwise very good.
