elmatador00 (518), j-action-ville, North Carolina, USA Dec 16, 2007 Courtesy of Mcbackus. Pours a hazy copper color with fizzy white head. Hints of belgian yeast, sour fruit, cream, spice. Finishes sweet and creamy on the tongue. Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Dec 11, 2007 Bottle shared by csbosox at Indra’s tasting on 12/7/07. Pours a cloudy amber-orange with a super-thin, creamy, white cap that laces nicely. Wheaty, pale malt, citrus and spicy Belgian yeast are on the nose. Light to medium-bodied, with lively carbonation, it finishes with a crisp and lightly dry finish. The flavor is a wheaty body with citrus up front and faint notes of cocoa and light pepper in the background. A uniquely different variation of the style. Thanks again, Chris, for hauling this one back from Chi-town. theisti (1638), Leawood, Kansas, USA Dec 11, 2007 750 ml. bottle shared by csbosox at the 12/7 tasting at Indra’s. Pour is a hazy orange with a white head that fades really fast. Aroma of some sour mash, faint chocolate and some earthy spiciness. Taste is the really nice normal Fantome body, very drinkable with highlights of the chocolate and some very subtle and very nice spiciness (Black Pepper). Finish re-introduces the sour-earthiness. Thanks for toting this one on the El, on the plane, etc for us. csbosox (1076), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Dec 7, 2007 750ml bottle. Cocoa aroma, very floral and citrusy, with a nice chile fruitiness aroma. Taste is light spice, quality cocoa, fruity chilis, tart wheat. Very drinkable. The chocolate and chili are both nice additions, but not all of the beer. Nice mouthfeel. Bottle conditoned to be sure. Scauca (408), Lovere, Italy Dec 5, 2007 A bit disappointed when poured because of the absence of any trace of choco. Now, reading top raters’ ratings i’m more quiet. Hazy light copper appearance, with the classic huge disappearing brewery’ off-white head. Strong funky fantome’s yeastiness, sweet fruity. Nice round mouthfeel. Light body. No alcohol despite 8%. Bitter dry end. FoolishMortal (965), San Diego, California, USA Nov 26, 2007 750mL bottle. Murky golden color with a large rocky white head. Horsey, grassy aroma, rather phenolic. Musty, slightly metallic character up front. Slight fruitiness, faint spiciness. Lingering bretty must and plastic in the finish, some tartness. Mouthfeel is light, somewhat dry. drewbeerme (2224), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 19, 2007 750ml bottle. pours hazy orange with thin white head around the rim. the aroma is a slightly chili pepper quality to it but mainly its funky and yeasty with apple and pears. flavor is slightly tart light fruits, bretty, and finishes with a bit a pepper and the slightest hints of cocoa. interesting how underplayed the pepper and chocolate is and it’s more of a light fruity and yeasty. the mouth feel is a bit spritzy and i dont recall ever having a fantome beer with this type of carbonation. alcohol is no where to be found. i do really enjoy this but i can’t get over how a fantome beer brewed with cocoa and chili pepper could seem pretty straight forward. the mouth fell is a little thin and acidic. i can see not being into this beer but if you are a fan of the fantome house flavor this one shouldn’t dissapoint, just don’t expect a chocolatey beer. ucusty (1865), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Nov 13, 2007 Thanks to papat444 for this one! Pours hazy copper with thin head and spotty lacing! Green Apple and yeast on the nose. Citrus and corriander up front finish’s dry with phunky hints of bittersweet chocalate. Very nice!
