benhwilkinson (24), Little Soudley, Shropshire, England Aug 30, 2007 Bottle:Quite flat with a head that disappeared within a minute. Nice copper color. Lactic acid bacteria SO sour to taste. Not for me!! Drink4Satan (585), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Aug 28, 2007 I was surprised at how mild and subtle the flavours were in this beer. Poured a transluscent cream colour with a solid frothy white head with good retention. The nose is of pear, barnyard hay, pepper, citrus (hops), and faint cocoa. The flavour is more herbal, spicy and has a chocolate finish. Yeasty flavours aren’t as prevalent as the suspended particles of it would suggest. The balance achived using such mix-matched flavours is what is most impressive and intrigueing about this brew. The palate is very soft yet crisp and is medium bodied. glkaiser (1150), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 24, 2007 Sharp cloudy golden. medium frothy head. Light floral sweet aroma. Sweet honey taste with a weird sharp metallic taste. Really sweet finish. Is this a joke that there is chocolate and chili pepper in this??? I’ll have to re-sample at some point, cause this freaks me out. faroeviking (6016), Republica Vikingo de las, Faroe Islands Aug 23, 2007 Bottle. Pours a brown cloudy colour with a small head. Aroma of yeast, malt, cocoa, caramel and some citrus. Good mouthfeel. The flavour has a pleasant maltiness with some cocoa, yeast, bit of spices, citrus and moist hay. Pretty strange and interesting. waolsen (1220), Littleton, Colorado, USA Aug 17, 2007 bottle. copper pour with thin white head. aroma is noticable from a distance. simlar to that of malt liquor with chili pepper very present. sourness is initial taste. fades to chocolate and then to a chili pepper finish. amazing complexity of full flavors. great balance. a unique true pleasure from start to finish. one of a kind. never would expected this mix to work so well. it sounds cheesy but this beer is brilliant! kkearn (994), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 11, 2007 Sampled most recently at Stephen Beaumont class at Tria Fermentation School, 8/10/07. Poured reddish-amber, with a thin white head. Chili pepper predominant in the aroma, with some malt and mild cocoa. flavor starts with mild cocoa, then joined by chili, and a little tartness. Flavors are subtle and very well balanced. Crazy idea that was executed exceptionally well. mgumby10 (1844), Jupiter, Florida, USA Aug 5, 2007 Pours a copper/amber color with a big off white head. Smells very spicy, peppery, some funky citrus in there too. Not a huge trace of the cocoa in the aroma. The spice seems to cover it up. The taste is very peppery, with just a small amount of the cocoa backing it up. Kind of yeasty, with a good amount of some funk, typical of these guys brewd. The finish was very spicy on the palate. Solid offering. Not what you would expect from the name. Floback (333), Naples, Florida, USA Jul 28, 2007 Poured huge off-white head with a maroonish-copper color. Open up the barnyard door and take a whiff. Flavors of spice, Christmas, and some pepper. Ultra-balanced and delicious.
