lachesis (759), St Idesbald, Belgium Mar 6, 2006 At the Zythos beerfestival St Niklaas, Belgium. This beer has an amber-orange body, is very hazy and has a nice beige yellowish froth. Aroma is not very expressive. Lest say it is far from chocolaty. The taste is on the watery side, it is smooth, slight bitter and has a herbal accent in the end. Chocolate where is the chocolate? Mirage52 (123), New Market, Maryland, USA Feb 19, 2006 Had this in a large bottle at Max’s on Broadway in Baltimore during the Belgain Beer Festival. Pours thick with a khaki colored head that lasts the entire time with lots of coating remnants on the glass. Smells of espresso powder. Taste is smooth, obviously chocolate, and the alcohol is very present during the aftertaste. Smooth finish with a hint of cinnamon. Very good beer... different from anything I’ve ever had. As a chocolate lover I didn’t know what to expect but I was very pleased. jbrus (4835), Delft, Netherlands Feb 18, 2006 Bottled. Sweet aroma with strong spices, lots of pepper, hint of citrus and yeasty. So for so good. Cloudy, dark orange color, beige head, good lace. Light sweet, lots of spices, grass, herbs, bitter, licorice. It has the expected complexity but certainly not what I expected. I just don´t like the combination of flavors and it has a very plain mouthfeel. pantani (1894), Salinas, California, USA Feb 17, 2006 Thanks to Odeed for this. Have had this sitting around for awhile, and figured it was time to give it a whirl. Corriander, Ginger, Crystal Malt, very light whiff of bitter chocolate with a cover of sour essence. Body is a brown/amber with a thin forming head. Taste is a slight horseblanket along with nutmeg, apricots, and a nicely balanced hop edge. Smooth on the palate. Otje (668), Leiden, Netherlands Feb 4, 2006 another nice saison by Danny. has much resemblence with a good stout. fruits and spices in both taste and aroma. rather dry and bitter, and maybe some chocolate. liked it a lot! anders37 (4516), Malmö, Sweden Feb 2, 2006 Bottle. Cloudy orange colour with a big off-white head. Malty aroma with hints of fruit and spices. Malty and a little sweet flavor with hints of fruit and spices. Has a hoppy finish. caesar (3020), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands Feb 2, 2006 I shared a big bottle with skortila and Noize. Very cloudy murky brown color, medium brown head. Aroma is slightly sour, yeasty, some malt, maybe some milk chocolat, but quite difficult to smell. Bit sour taste, yeasty, bit sweet and malty. Maybe there’s a big difference between different bottles, but this bottle certainly didn’t match up with the expectations... ThomasE (5179), Copenhagen, Denmark Feb 2, 2006 Cloudy orange beer with a big off white head. Malty aroma with a vanilla and chocolate sweetness and a light spicy note. Sweet malty flavor with fruity notes and a light spicy finish.
