jgb9348 (2492), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Jan 17, 2009 Super hazy light brown coloured body with a thinnish bubbly tan head. Aroma of chocolate, yeast, malt, sugars and even some raisins. Light-bodied; Potent sourness up front in the taste along with malt and chocolate most noticeable. Aftertaste is light and shows tartness and some sweetness. Overall, not such a great offering - I was expecting more from this one. Still though, it is worth trying from this famous Belgie brewer if you can find it. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased at Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 23 November 2006 (Thanksgiving). smith4498 (819), Miami, Florida, USA Jan 11, 2009 Pours hazy orange color with off white head. Funky Fantome aroma with some spices. Flavor is slightly sweet and tart with a hint of chili. Medium body with average carbonation and a tart finish. 17thfloor (1402), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 27, 2008 Bottle almost a year old. Pours an unclear orange golden with a few bubbles and silky and frothy thin white head. Tangy aroma, tart, red berries, light chili and cocoa, very intriguing. Whoa is that different, tart tangy crisp acidic and at the same time creamy, chalky and dry. This is a puzzle of a beer very similar to DFH Theobrama but way more tart. Tart and sweet citric flavors, yeasty, dusty and quite a bit sour with underlying notes of cocoa powder and lesser chilis. Long juicy tart tangerine finish with just enough acid. The finish is really awesome... maybe blood orange, slightly bitter. I cant believe how similar this is to theobrama, but so much better.
Medium light bodied, with super crisp sizzling carbonation that fits the flavor perfectly, ever so lightly gritty and chalky. This stuff is so tasty and drinkable, absolutely delicious, one of my new favorites and way underrated. kiefdog (1534), Tampa, Florida, USA Dec 17, 2008 75cl bottle from Beer World (Largo, FL). Pours a hazy caramel brown color with a thick and pillowy off-white head. Excellent retention and lacing. Aroma is spice, yeast, hay, some dark ripe fruit and chocolate notes. Flavor is spicy and sweet with notes of coriander, honey, yeast, hints of cocoa and apple. Generally light to medium body with a dry tart finish. Kinz (2179), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA Dec 15, 2008 VRBT. Golden yellow. Woodsy sour saison style aroma. In the flavor, there is a nice sour note going on, appealing tartness. There is faint white chocolate on the finish, probably because I am looking for it. Not at all sweet. A very solid beer. daknole (2802), Plantation, Florida, USA Dec 12, 2008 Bottle from Knightly Spirits. Pours a cloudy orangish color. Frothy light head. Aroma is funky sour yeasty and some nice spice. Flavor is really nice. Tart yeasty, spices and fruit. This normally isnt my style of beer but I really enjoyed this. SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA Oct 11, 2008 750 ml bottle - thanks to beerlando for the trade; intrigued by the description; pours dirty yellow with increasing yeast floaties; thin and flat with almost no head; slight tart and choco aromas very minor; drinks smooth with little to no chocolate flavors; i think the chocolate gives it a unique texture, thickness and smoothness though; very interesting; don’t get much of the chili pepper either except in a generically spicy finish; a confusing beer Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Oct 8, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark brown cloudy body with an off white head. Coco chocolate wheat, chili pepper and other spices. Flowers and malt. Odd beer but enjoyable.
