A Belgian ’saison-style’ ale brewed with cocoa powder and chili pepper? Ay, Caramba! Score another first for the unpredictable brewery that was the first -- and so far the only - brewery to make ales out of dandelions and mushrooms, among other things.

Pale golden amber pour ... aroma of sour tart fruits, saison yeast .... taste is of sweet fruits, tart and dry light sour with saison yeast and a dry tart finish .... could not find the chocolate in this at all .... was a decent saison though

Highly unique. Lots of tart, funky farmhouse melded with chocolate. Not too rich and the chocolate doesn’t quite gel with the saison, but still fruity, fun and again another unique beer from Fantome. Thanks to Pizza Port Bottle shop dude for the share!

75cl bottle. Take the (high) standard saison and add a good amount of spiciness, some astringency (probably due to cocoa) and a peppery finish: there you have fantome chocolat. Very complex and interesting brew.

Really good, but I didn’t get a whole lot of chocolate and only got a little bit of chilie papper, most in the back of the palate. But this is a really enjoyable saison, light but substantial at the smae time, with a lot of sourness. Maybe a bit of champaigne, too.

Bottle. Pour is cloudy copper with a thin white head. Aroma is lightly sweet with earthy hay and grassy notes. Also lightly spicy with faint chocolate and fruit. Flavor is a touch sour and funky initially with a lightly citrusy and faint cocoa. Is the cocoa a hallucination? Maybe. But this is tasty.
