Fantôme Chocolat

Bottle. Pours a cloudy dark amber with a white head that persists. Aroma of sourness and sweet fruits (like a sour ale). Flavor initially of the same sweet/sour notes , slight funkiness, followed by a cocoa powder finish. Originally I thought the palate on the finish was rather weak, but when I picked out the cocoa powder, it was awesome! If you can pick it out, a sweet combination. Excelllent.

(Bottle at One Pint on 2008-02-12) Amber colour. Very small head. Very weakly chocoltate in nose. A metallic aroma, too. Sour taste. A tiny sting from chilli. In aftertaste a hint of cocoa bitterness.

750 Bottle ... hazy amber ... cidery nose ... very tart ... quite dry ... fruity ... again some cider tones ... touch of chocolate ... dont sense any chilli? .... really quite drinkable.... the chocolate builds as you get further in.

Flaske. Ikke så fantastisk ovenpå Dark and White. En del funk i smagen og chokoladen er meget tydelig. Men ikke så godt balanceret. Interessant.

Bottle. Pours a clear pale golden with a small white head that fades to a ring and leaves some lacing. Aroma of cocoa powder, earthy hops, citrus, and spicy yeast. Taste is pilsner malt, earthy hops, citrus, and yeast spice. Medium thin mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness, well hidden alcohol, and a slightly tart finish. This bottle doesn’t contain the amount of Fantôme funk that I have come to love but is a very good Saison none the less.

Aroma of sweet malt, pit fruit, orange, almost no head. Taste is fruity, tangy, barnyard, tart, dry. Very nice. Thanks mds.

750 mL bottle purchased at Liquor Max in Loveland, CO. Pours orange with a small, fizzy, white head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing, sparkling. Aroma is average malt (straw, hay, cereal), average hops (citrus, grass, herbs), average yeast (earth, horse blanket) with notes of grapes, coriander, and pepper with a slight hint of cocoa. Medium bodied, slick texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.

Hazy golden with large white head. Sweet yeasty aroma with spices, vegetables and faint chocolate notes. Sweet spicy flavor with yeasty notes and no chocolate notes.
