A Belgian ’saison-style’ ale brewed with cocoa powder and chili pepper? Ay, Caramba! Score another first for the unpredictable brewery that was the first -- and so far the only - brewery to make ales out of dandelions and mushrooms, among other things.

750 ml bottle split with my wife. Poured into a tulip glass. a: amber with a foamy bubbly head with ok retention. The head was about 1" high. Reduces to lacing s: slightly sour smell, mixed with ever so slight citrus. t: fairly complex beer, surprisingly the most dominated flavor is citrus. There is a light note of pepper... which in my mind almost acts like the bittering substance. Not much cocoa, slightly disapointing.

BBD: Dec 2017.
In short: little cacao saison.
Pours hazy dark gold with very frothy white head. Gushing. long head retention, good lacing. Barnyard, herbal, spicy nose. Light body, high carbonation, crispy texture. Taste is moderate tart, little cacao noticed, crisp, refreshing. Some spicy but no chiles noticed.

Bottle; pours a hazy orange gold with a white head; yeasty aroma with some citrus and spice notes; taste is yeast, citrus, and grass; finish is dry and peppery; I did not really notice the chocolate but otherwise this is an okay beer

Deep amber with lots of yeasty floaties, tight white head. Heady saison aromas of barnyard funk, candi sugar, light chocolate, fresh bread. The taste has lots of candi sugar, funky belgian yeast, milk chocolate and lightly toasted bread. Medium body, very light acidity, nice balance of sweetness, bitterness and funk. Really quite good.

750ml . corked ; Drank from a La Chouffe tulip. a strange and captivating fucken beer , i bought it for the strange! .. Bready, floral , funky nose , with just a whisper of chillies and chocolate accents ; Bright amber - I would intuitively assume a Belgian beer called Chocolat would be darker than this shit .. it could be a fucken APA . But lets get real , this is unorthodox ...the first few chugs are rich ,bready, citrusy ,textbook saison , right ?. the finish explodes like i had hoped, with legit chilli pepper heat -it waxes the palate and beats it up . a coco powder chocolate texture dances with the chilli . A pretty damn ingenious beer .

Buonissima, unica rd irripetibile, evolve scaldandosi e rimane sempre piacevole. Corpo medio e tessitura leggera ma mai acquosa

Bottle at home (lot n "e", best before "D, 17"). Pours a hazy golden to orange amber with some yeast and a huge white head (even from the bottle after pouring). Fruity floral aroma of malts, spices, yeast, wheat, just a hint of chocolate in the end. Taste is sweet, malts, yeast. spices, light acidic, a hoppy bitter aftertaste with a hint of cacao. Expected a lot more chocolate and chili. Bit disappointing.
