750 ml bottl into my Rochefort glass. I really like to be constructive in my reviews, but I’ll just start out by saying this beer is no good and needs to be avoided...Pours an ugly light watery looking honey gold, two fingers of head, ok retention and lacing...The aroma has cocoa powderon the front, lots of floral hops light. There is a chili pepeer finish that is really generic and comes acros really bad giving it a stale skunky aroma...The taste is really bad, it loses all the chocolate and is just a really weird musky, stale, chili. Sour in the worst ways, with heat in the middle.
A combination that should not be tried in a saison, stay away from this.

Pours a cloudy yellow. Interesting ale. The chili pepper completely overpowers the chocolate. It’s quite good though.

Bottle from Cracked Kettle, recommendation of Iep. Murky orange body with little, fuzzy head. Nose of orange and chili pepper. Taste of oranges, orange peel. Quite spicy with the chilies in full effect. Chocolate taste much more subdued - too bad - but can taste it a bit later in. Smooth and spicy.

Sampled at le Mondial de la bière 2005. Pours a hazy golden color with a thin offwhite head. Aroma and flavor of spices, fruits, barnyard and very mild coacoa. Light body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Very intriguing but not as good as other Fantômes.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 JK (3400) - Uptown, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - AUG 4, 2006
UPDATED: AUG 5, 2006 My thanks to JoeBrew at Cellars St. Paul for this beer. A light orange beer; thin white head. Aroma has some barnyard and weird yeast scent. Flavor has very light chocolate and light pepper as well. The pepper has no bite, which surprised me. Fairly spicy overall; but not really a chocolate beer. Significant sediment; very large pieces. Very good.

A cloudy light brown pour. With an aroma of belgium spicy yeast. A flavor of spicy fruit. A different beer than most I have tried.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ante (3375) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - OCT 4, 2006
Bottled. Cloudy orange with grey hints. Low creamy white head. Wet grass, soices, almond, tart pears, sweat and yeast in the aroma. Fairly light flavour (compared to other Fantômes) of funky yeast, almond, all-spice and cocoa. Stronger notes of cocoa-powder in the finish along with nut-shels, yeast and spices.

Super hazy light brown coloured body with a thinnish bubbly tan head. Aroma of chocolate, yeast, malt, sugars and even some raisins. Light-bodied; Potent sourness up front in the taste along with malt and chocolate most noticeable. Aftertaste is light and shows tartness and some sweetness. Overall, not such a great offering - I was expecting more from this one. Still though, it is worth trying from this famous Belgie brewer if you can find it. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased at Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 23 November 2006 (Thanksgiving).
