I get no chocolate whatsoever in the flavor or aroma...maybe a LITTLE BIT when it warms up a bunch. In general tho, it’s got the pleasant spicy funkiness that you usually get from a good Belgian Saison. I’d rather have DuPont. joekinty (263), rockledge, Florida, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 7, 2006 This beer was very odd in concept but really came together very nicely. Pours cloudy and muddy. The cocoa powder taste added a nice sweetness up front that was dried out further by the beer, then kicked off by a faint spiciness in the finish from the chili. The taste was a bit unusual at first, kinda reminded me of some hippie herbal store smell, but after a few sips it really grew on me and by the end of the bottle I was wishing I had another bottle. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 4, 2005 Interesting beer. Deep and richly orange and very cloudy. Medium body; nice texture with a fitting level of carbonation. Spicy-orange nose with fresh yeast. Sweet malts, with a burst of chocolate and cookie dough up front (overall, cocoa flavors/aromas are subtle and in the background). Sweetness fades away quickly into a snappy bitterness, which then transforms into zippy pepper notes that follow through into the finish and aftertaste. Drying and a little hot. Lesser notes of citrus (orange, lemon) and spices (grassy and clove-like). Odd combo of ingredients on paper but, surprisingly enough, they somehow seem to get along. vyvvy (2069), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 24, 2007 A mighty thanks to Hopscotch for supplying me with this saison. Pours copper / orange that is quite hazy with a somewhat fizzy tan head. The aroma is grainy and citrusy with funky yeast, hot pepper and a hint of cocoa. Medium / thin body that is crisp and a bit grainy with mild sharp carbonation. The flavor starts smooth with some dark grain tastes, citric acid, notes of pineapple and a hint of cocoa. The finish adds some sharpness and pepper. The alcohol is completely hidden in this. A decent saison I’d gladly have again. diabel (1372), Aarschot, Belgium
