750 ml bottle from West Lakeview, Chicago. Hazy grapefruit juice color with white head. Aroma is mostly sweet funk and peppery. Flavor is also funk but chile spice and the very last finish is chocolate. Medium body and hotly carbonated. Like usual a very amazing fantome beer but not a very strong chocolate presence.

Pours *very* cloudy, murky, brown (light brown or dark tan) with a very thick tan head. The aroma is of yeast and grass, some banana nut bread and green raisins, with hints of chocolate and fruit. The flavor starts with hints of acidity, some grass, hints of malts, and some bitter cocoa. In the middle it tastes like sourdough bread with stronger flavors of bitter chocolate and fruit (citrus, apricots). The beer finishes crisp and strangely dry - I suppose from the dry, bitter cocoa powder that’s been added - with some hop flavor. The finish also leaves hints of hot cinnamon on the back of the tongue - likely from the chili pepper and cocoa combination. The mouthfeel is dry and light on the tongue. Not bad and very interesting, though not quite as delightful as their normal Saison.

750 from trade. Shared with my gf Cyn and two friends Geoff and Chris. Pours orangey with bright white ring/island. Nose is citrussy, farmmy grassy, and a bit of sour. Taste is sweet and sour and citrussy, maybe with ever so slight note of chocolate.

Shared with Lee. Orange amber pour with a thick white head and lots of sediment. Chili pepper, black pepper, and fruit aroma. Starts of spicy and mellows to lemon black pepper and orange in the taste. Very interesting.

Pours a slurry yeasty, off tan. Silly me, I was expecting something dark. Tart rhubarb and vinegar aroma, doughy and lemony, refreshing and tasty.

This beer was very odd in concept but really came together very nicely. Pours cloudy and muddy. The cocoa powder taste added a nice sweetness up front that was dried out further by the beer, then kicked off by a faint spiciness in the finish from the chili. The taste was a bit unusual at first, kinda reminded me of some hippie herbal store smell, but after a few sips it really grew on me and by the end of the bottle I was wishing I had another bottle.

Pours a cloudy yellow. Interesting ale. The chili pepper completely overpowers the chocolate. It’s quite good though.
