[2610-20091127] 1pt9.4floz bottle. Peppery saison yeast aroma. Murky, light brown orange body with quick white bubbles. Sour peppery yeasty saison flavour. Medium body is a little sour. Really interesting, an odd combination as it is, can’t figure out if there’s a cocoa part though.

Highly unique. Lots of tart, funky farmhouse melded with chocolate. Not too rich and the chocolate doesn’t quite gel with the saison, but still fruity, fun and again another unique beer from Fantome. Thanks to Pizza Port Bottle shop dude for the share!

Hint of sourness in the aroma.Pours a cloudy copper with a long lasting white head.Get a musty yeast flavor.Thin to medium mouthfeel with a lot of yeast in the flavor.

A bit disappointed when poured because of the absence of any trace of choco. Now, reading top raters’ ratings i’m more quiet. Hazy light copper appearance, with the classic huge disappearing brewery’ off-white head. Strong funky fantome’s yeastiness, sweet fruity. Nice round mouthfeel. Light body. No alcohol despite 8%. Bitter dry end.

Courtesy cmillward. Pours a lightly hazy, glowing dark orange color. A foamy, cream colored head leaves soapy, jagged lines and spots of lace on the glass. Aromas include toasted, glazed biscuit, light cocoa powder, pepper, and a touch of sweet orchard fruit. Flavors aren’t as spicy as expected, with just a very light dusting of spent chili appearing in the finish. The fruity sweetness is there, as is the light cocoa and sweet biscuit notes. Not as funky as many other Fantômes. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation, the brew is smooth and easy to drink, showing no traces of the 8% ABV. Overall, pretty solid, but not what I was expecting.

Bottle at Brouwer’s. Funky, skunky, very much a farmhouse ale on the nose. Hazy light gold, with skunky hops -- like a strong cheese covered in lemon juice. A bit of a sour note in the flavor, which is nicer than the aroma by a long shot. Cacao at the finish, dusty, fuzzy. Bone dry. Interesting.

Poured on tap at Max’s Belgian Fest 08, a cloudy orange color, with a spicy citrus aroma. Sour citrus flavor, with a slight hint of hops/ grass. Personally couldn’t taste chocolate.

On tap at its birthplace. Courtesy of a fellow traveler from a small town near Leuven merci mon ami! Slightly hazy, multi-colored golden brown, large white head, good lacing. Aroma of pepper and malt. Taste is sweet from start to finish, hint of cocoa toward the middle, and no detectable hops. Interesting.
