A Belgian ’saison-style’ ale brewed with cocoa powder and chili pepper? Ay, Caramba! Score another first for the unpredictable brewery that was the first -- and so far the only - brewery to make ales out of dandelions and mushrooms, among other things.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy deep orange with a thin head that dissipates completely and quickly. Aroma has a bit of light chocolate with sweet grains and a touch of spice. Flavor is lighter with light flora, light fruits and a bit of tartness with a finish that has a touch of chocolate.

75cl bottle shared in a Delirium Tremens glass. Pours a cloudy dark straw colour with a thin off white head. Aroma is quite hoppy and fresh. Taste is a disappointment with a grainy taste and less spicy than the printemps saison. The cocoa being ever so slightly evident; more so in the mouthfeel contributing to the smoothness. Carbonation is nice but not a beer I will try again.

Bottle, light hazy yellow with some small sediments and a medium sized creamy white head. White pepper, roses, light herbal, light nutty, wooden. Hard to detect any cocoa or chill at first, but the cocoa becomes apparent as it warms up. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Soft and gentle, easy drinking. Light bitter and tannic like finish. A bit like the regular Fäntóm€ Saison with some added wooden and nutty notes. Pretty good and affordable.

75cl bottle. Go Cats!!! Nose is grassy and farmy. Not really getting the chocolate or chili peppers so far. I get Sprite/7up in addition to the typical Saison flavors. Spritzy. Odd.

Fin beska.

750ml bottle
This might have been a bad bottle or a bad batch but it was a total letdown. Fantome seems to be always hit or miss. This one is a huge strikeout which helps explain why their product sits on the shelf so long. If you want a good Belgian saison look elsewhere.

Aroma / Appearance - The fact that it began to gush the second I uncorked the bottle was a bad sign. About a third of the bottle was donated to the drain before it settled enough to be pourable. When it did I was left with a cloudy caramel base. Yeast, old Hershey’s kisses, and dry hay were kind of mild. Nondescript it was forgettable even on the table.

Flavor / Palate - Oranges dipped in cheap waxy chocolate faintly tickle the palate. Yeast and sourdough pretzels transition to a slightly salty finish. Mellow and weak it also suffers from lack of focus. If not for the fact that it was an expensive bottle I would have poured the rest down the drain after only a few sips.

Bottle from one of the employees at de Molen, thanks! BB Dec 2017. Hazy blond pour with white head. Aroma reminiscent of fantôme saison, light biscuity malty notes, fruity, berry aromas, with a light green pepper/coffee/chili aroma as well. Taste is soft, light maltiness, very light bitterness, grassy and herbal flavors, light chili flavor, mild citric acidity. Palate is dry, soft carbonation like you get only from Fantome. Dont get the chocolate, get the chilies. Very nice.

Bière épicée, poivrée, assez acide. Aucunes traces de chocolat. Je n’ai pas du tout aimé.

750ml bottle in a tulip. Pours hazy, deep amber with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of tartness, some light chocolate, some funkiness, light fruits, and a little caramel maltiness. Flavor the same with an interesting blend. Average texture. A pretty good beer but could be better.
