3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle @ MJ’s house. Thanks! Hazed copper pour with a white head. Straw, rubber, and grass on the nose. Tart orange, lemon peel, and yeast. A bit of malt sweetness. Slight fruity esters. Flavors of pear, orange, and lemon. Tons of grass, a touch of rubber, banana, and sweet caramel. Not bad.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750mL 2011 from Etre Gourmet. Pours a full haze murky orange. Soapy white foam. Higher champagne carbonation. Fresh and fruity nectarine nose with cantaloupe, honeydew, fresh valencia orange. Taste is quite malty, dough, nectarine, fresh oranges. Finishes dusty and minty with a ton of body from remaining sweet roll. Almost Biere de Garde in profile.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Poured into a snifter. 2011 vintage, batch 2.
3.5 A: Well hazed amber peach color. Three fingers of frothy off-white head. Retention is good given the ABV, but just a few whisps of lacing are left.
3.5 S: Wildflowers dominate the nose. Big floral throughout. Underneath there is a dry herbalness and citrusy orange and bitter orange peel. Mild peppery yeastiness. Alcohol is well hidden. Somewhat tame for a Fantome beer, but good enough.
3.5 T: Taste mirrors the nose. Floral with a dry herbalness. Plenty of orange and orange peel. Mild bitterness. Moderately spicy yeastiness focussing on pepper. Toasty malts with just a light booziness. Again, tame for a Fantome beer.
3.5 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation that is lightly spritzy. Lacking creaminess though. Overall, good enough.
3.0 D: Some categories were borderline 3.0, so that’s why this is. It’s not bad, but I hold Fantome to a higher standard when they are dealing with this type of brew. The fact that it was super expensive doesn’t improve the situation. Give the brew a try if you have some extra money laying around, but don’t expect to be impressed.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled at Fantome-a-thon 2013. Batch 2.
Pours bright golden with nice white head. Looks about like most other Fantomes.
Aroma is sweet and maple-y, loads of caramel. Some citrus also.
Flavor is very sweet and like maple syrup, weird. There are hints of orange peel and hints of that classic Fantome funk. As it warms the maple calms down but it is still one of the weirder Fantomes I’ve ever tried.
Medium body, nice carbonation.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled@HBF2013 (Fantome Clos Preal 2011). Hazy amber colour, small white head. Aroma is mild spices, citrus, some floral notes along with mild mold and caramel. Flavour is mild yeast, spices, some wooden and resiny notes. Good, but still a slight disappointment for being a Fantome...

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(Bottled@HBF 2013) Hazy golden with a small head. Anise and licorice in the nose. Licorice, yeast, smooth alcohol, light spiciness, some metal in the flavor. Medium to full body, soft CO2. Not very interesting for a Fantome; clean and unmemorable.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at home with friends, courtesy of Dave. Thanks buddy!! Pour is hazy orange with a small white head. Banana, clove, coriander, tart, malty, caramel, light toffee, and red licorice in the aroma. Taste is somewhat oxidized, cardboard, tangy, banana, lemon, caramel, and doughy with a touch of spice on the backend. Medium body with soft carbonation. Not bad.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pour out of 750 mL, 2011 bottle, thanks a ton! Hazy orange pour with nice white head, aroma brought notes of some slight vanilla, honey, slight biscuit, bread, and yeast, hints of slight funky fruit notes, hints of green tea notes. Taste is a mix of slight white fruit, biscuit, bread, slight biscuit, lots of odd funky fruity notes with lots of green tea, herbal notes, finishing slightly bitter. Tasty, but different.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
(Bottle, 0.75 l - 2011 Vintage, at HBF2013) The beer poured golden and orange. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness, farmhous and honey. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, honey, sweetness, grass and bitterness. Afteraste was fruity and bitter. Does not taste like a Fantôme beer at all. A good beer but I feel cheated.
