2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Sampled from bottle @ RBBWG 2013. Hazy murky yellow-orange color, small white to off-white head. Smell and taste slightly sourish, a bit peachy, yeasty. Typical Fantome. Ok, but not what I like.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Shared bottle @Papsoe’s. A tall foamy head, quickly shrinking to a layer of beige bubbles. Cloudy, yellow-golden body. Clean, spiced yeast aroma. A fine funky sourness, with notes of lemon. Taste is sharpish citrus-zesty with mild spices and a certain refreshing tartness. Feels light in the mouth, despite the high abv. Prickling, champagne-like carbonation. Sharp mouth-drying ending. 3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Gold colored hazy beer. Floral hoppy aroma. Some citrus too. Smoke is noticeable in the mouth but very mild and well balanced with the fruity bitter flavors. The alcohol is well hidden.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle, bought @ Etre Gourmet.
Pours clear orange with a large, creamy, white head. Aroma has funk, leather, oranges, red apple, fresh tangerine. Medium carbonation, nice dry andcreamy mouthfeel. Flavour has apples, light coffee and dark chocolate (that completely surprise, thinking how fresh the aroma is), ashy, deep caramel. Light grassy bitter with hints of oregano.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml bottle poured a clear gold with a lasting ivory head. Aromas of straw, barnbyard, earthiness and light citrus. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of straw, eartyhiness, horseblanket and light citrus with a smooth dry lingering earthy finish.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Etre Gourmet. Pours cloudy golden with a small creamy white head. Aroma of yeast, citrus and spicy malts. Taste is complex, light fruity sweetness initially, continues spicy, coriander, well hidden alcohol, taste opens up as the beer warms up. Good beer, with a spicy herbal end.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A soft pour from the well carbonated beer still produces a five-finger thick, and more rim topping fluff that is a light tan colored head. The beer is a bright amber color that shows a brilliantly clear, madly streaming bubble full, bright copper color. The aroma has a ripe, floral apple note, a touch of banana, some straw like and cracker like malt, candy fruit notes, musty, funky Fantôme character. There is some musty / woody pepper hints, phenolic clove, ripe sweet ginger, a funky kiwi or melon fruit note, and a general green, ripe fruitiness.
The beer has a touch of sweetness and fruit character up front, it gets dry, phenolic, and spicy towards the finish. The body is actually fairly light for a beer of this strength, it has some viscosity to it, but it is definitely dangerously quaffable. There is a touch of mustiness here, a peppery bite, perhaps even a touch of woodiness, a dry ginger note, lots of clove and other tongue numbing turpenes. The beer has a certain warmth to it in the finish, it isn’t quite alcohol hot, but has a medicinal, funky bite to it in the finish. Fruit flavors of apple, pear, and perhaps a touch of melon help to balance out the spice and phenolics here. This can almost have a savory quality to the malt and yeast character at times; not quite smoky, but perhaps almost. A second pour adds a chalky, yeasty, earthy note in the finish. As the beer warms up there is perhaps a touch of vegetal character here that is mixed up with the fruit notes; it does remain quite balanced though.
Definitely tasty, enough so to be dangerous at this strength. It is unfortunate that it is already so over carbonated as I don’t know how much longer this will last; I would love for it to develop more of the Fantôme funk, but it is still quite tasty as is & I only wish I had a couple more bottles of this on hand.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle... Murky golden ale with a huge, pillowy, white head. Excellent retention. The aroma offers white pepper, pale malts and is that a rumor of smoke? Medium-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and lively carbonation. The flavor is bittersweet with a lot of pale malt character and a hint of anise. Finishes grainy, lightly bitter and tongue numbing. Kudos to Maltzilla for sharing this rarity with the south Florida crew!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Fully hazy orange beer with a thick, cream-coloured head. Bit vinous nose, alcohol, fusels, some spices, and aromatic hops, smelling of exotic fruit and dried apricots - apricotbrandy, even. But unfortunately, a slight waft of coriander there as well. The poison creeps everywhere... Bit of musk, certainly warming up. Celery - celerisalt, even - white whine, rhubarb, dried apricots, (bread)yeast, coriander. White sultanas in the finish. Not exactly the taste(s) I look for in beer, but the complexity is truly staggering. Musk returns retronasal. Well-bodied & slick; hides the 10% utterly, even if after a glass or two, the warming creeps in. Qua complexity, it’s a tour de force . It would have been the same flavourwise, as well as in matters of balance, if Dany had left out the infernal weed. This beer is a delight to discover, but a toil to finish a bottle...
